Call to Order Chair Zaratkiewicz called the meeting to order at 5:35 PM 2. Roll Call All Commissioners present. 3. Changes to the Agenda There were no changes to the agenda. 4. Approval of the Minutes Commissioner Piecewicz made a motion to approve the minutes from the regularly scheduled January 24, 2018 Civil Service Commission meeting. Motion was seconded by Commissioner Thomas; motion passed 3-0. 5. Consent Items to Accept Consent Items to Accept YES Chair Zaratkiewicz 1 A. Memo dated November 3, 2017 from Chief Thomas notifying the Commission that Sara Wood will be assigned as the Provisional Public Education Coordinator from November 3, 2017- February 7, 2018. B. Letters dated January 23, 2018 from Chief Examiner Winecka to Entry Level Police Officer candidates Jose Carrillo, Travis Cogil, Mauricio Kenny, Kevin Slagle, and Wyatt Blankenship notifying them that their names have been removed from the Continuous Testing Eligibility List effective January 23, 2018. C. Letters dated January 24, 2018 from Chief Examiner Winecka to Entry Level Corrections Officer candidates Jose Lopez, Jordan Olson, Oleg Schevchuk, and Scott Thompson notifying them that their names have been removed from the Continuous Testing Eligibility list effective January 24, 2018. D. Letters dated January 24, 2018 from Chief Examiner Winecka to Experienced/Lateral Police Officer candidates Crystal Brassard, Christopher Cabrera, and Kent Keller notifying them that their names have been removed from the Continuous Testing Eligibility List effective January 24, 2018. Letters dated January 26, 2018 from Chief Thomas to Christopher Mills and Eric Tung congratulating them on being promoted to Probationary Police Sergeants effective February 1, 2018. F. Letter dated January 26, 2018 from Chief Thomas to Daniel Brom congratulating him on being hired as a Probationary Lateral Police Officer effective March 1, 2018. G. Letter dated January 31, 2018 from Chief Thomas to Chelsea Pribble congratulating her on being hired as a Probationary Police Recruit Officer effective February 16, 2018. H. Letter dated February 1, 2018 from Elmer Querubin tendering his resignation effective February 1, 2018. I. Memo dated February 1, 2018 from Chief Thomas accepting the resignation of Elmer Querubin. J. Letter dated February 6, 2018 from Chief Examiner Winecka to Jerry Alvarez notifying him that his name has been removed from both eligibility lists for the positions of Entry Level Police Officer and Entry Level Corrections Officer. K. Letters dated February 6, 2018 from Chief Examiner Winecka to Entry Level Corrections Officer candidates Spencer Howard and Shane Villars notifying them that their names have been removed from the Continuous Testing Eligibility List effective February 6, 2018. L. Letters dated February 6, 2018 from Chief Examiner Winecka to Entry Level Police Officer candidates Isom Brown, Christian Carder, Jonathan Guy, Sam Thomas, and Dallis Wilcox notifying them that their names have been removed from the Continuous Testing Eligibility List effective February 6, 2018. M. Letter dated February 16, 2018 from Chief Examiner Winecka to Police Records Specialist candidate Jennifer Murray notifying her that her name has been removed from the eligibility list effective February 16, 2018. N. Letters dated February 16, 2018 from Chief Examiner Winecka to Entry Level Police Officer candidates Tyree Bell, Melody Wright, Jacky Birge, and Nathan Phillips notifying them that their names have been removed from the Continuous Testing Eligibility List effective February 16, 2018. O. Letter dated February 16, 2018 from Chief Examiner Winecka to Experienced/Lateral Police Officer candidate Jonathan Mannino notifying him that his name has been removed from the Continuous Testing Eligibility List effective February 16, 2018. There being no questions, Chair Zaratkiewicz made a motion to accept consent items A-O. Commissioner Thomas seconded; motion passed 3-0. 6. Items to Approve A. Continuous Testing Eligibility list for Lateral/Experienced Police Officer that was established on January 24, 2018. Continuous Testing Eligibility list for Entry Level Police Officer that was established on February 7, 2018. Chair Zaratkiewicz made a motion to approve into record items A and B. Commissioner Piecewicz seconded the motion; motion passed 3-0. 7. Action Items A. In accordance with rule 3.02, the Commission will elect a new Chair for a two (2) year term. Chair Zaratkiewicz nominated Commissioner Piecewicz to fullfil the Chair duties. After discussion of the matter, Chair Zaratkiewicz made a motion to elect Jeff Piecewicz as Chair. Commissioner Thomas seconded; motion passed 3-0. Jeff will serve as the Chair for a two year term. B. Memo dated February 1, 2018 from Ofr. Wayne Graff and Examiner Winecka requesting an addition to Civil Service Rule 10.09. Recruiting Officer Wayne Graff and Chief Examiner Winecka explained the reasoning behind the request to create this new rule as well as how the process would work. Commissioner Thomas made a motion to create the new rule and that it would be in effect immediately. Commissioner Piecewicz seconded the motion; motion passed 3-0. 8. For the Good of the Order Nothing further was brought before the Commission as it was a special meeting. 9. Adjournment Commissioner Piecewicz made a motion to adjourn.
