CITY OF KENT RESOLUTION NO. 1822
KCFP DISTRICT NO. 37 RESOLUTION NO. 354
A JOINT RESOLUTION of the City Council
of the City of Kent, Washington, and the Board of
Commissioners of King County F1re Protection
District No. 37, requesting the publ1cat1on and
d1stnbution of a Local Voters' Pamphlet in
accordance with Chapter 29A.32 RCW.
RECITALS
A. The City of Kent ("City") and King County Fire Protection
District No. 37 ("District") have adopted a Joint Resolution providing for the
subm1ss1on to qualified electors of the City and the District, at a speCial
election to be held on Apnl 27, 2010, of a proposition that, pursuant to
Chapter 52.26 of the Revised Code of Washington, approves a plan to form
a Regional Fire Protection Service Authonty w1th1n the boundaries of the
City and the District, effective July 1, 2010, to be funded by a property tax
levy and a new six-year benefit charge ("Ballot Measure").
B. Because the Ballot Measure is anticipated to be the only ballot
measure before the voters in the jurisdictions of the City and the District,
the Kent City Council and the D1stnct's Board of Commissioners believe
that it is in the best interest of the voters of each jurisdiction that the
Ballot Measure be presented to the voters through the publication and

distribution of a Local Voters' Pamphlet, in accordance with Ch. 29A.32
RCW.
NOW THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KENT,
WASHINGTON, AND THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF KING COUNTY
FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT NO. 37, DO HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
RESOLUTION
SECTION 1. -Authorizing Production of Local Voters' Pamphlet.
The City Council of the City of Kent Washington and the Board of
Commissioners of K1ng County Fire Protection District No. 37 hereby find
that it is in the best interests of the City and the District to authorize K1ng
County to publish and d1stnbute within the jurisdictions of the City and the
D1stnct a Local Voters' Pamphlet for the April 27, 2010, Special Election,
consistent with the requirements of Ch. 29A.32 RCW and K1ng County's
Administrative Rules.
SECTION 2. -Authorizing Payment of Costs of Producing Local
Voters' Pamphlet. The City Council of the City of Kent Washington and the
Board of Commissioners of K1ng County Fire Protection District No. 37
hereby agree to pay the costs of the publication and distribution of the
Local Voters' Pamphlet based on each ent1ty's prorated share as
determined under RCW 29A.32.270.
SECTION 3. -Other Actions. The Mayor of the City, or her
des1gnee, and the Commissioners of the District, or their designees, are
authonzed and directed to take all other actions reasonably necessary or
attendant to submitting the Ballot Measure to voters.
SECTION 4. -Severability. If any section, subsection, paragraph,
sentence, clause or phrase of this resolution is declared unconstitutional or

invalid for any reason, such decision shall not affect the validity of the
remaining portions of this resolut1on.
SECTION 5. -Ratification. Any act consistent with the authority
and prior to the effective date of this resolution is hereby ratified and
affirmed.
SECTION 6. -Effective Date. This resolution shall take effect and
be in force immediately upon its passage.
SECTION 7. -Triplicate Originals. Three onginals of this resolution
are signed by the City of Kent and King County Fire Protection District No.
37.
