RESOLUTION NO. ~f-=<(!~0-~--
A RESOLUTION of the City Council of the
City of Kent, Washington, recognizing the North
Park Neighborhood Council.
RECITALS
A. The City of Kent has developed a Neighborhood Program to
promote and sustain an environment that responds to res1dents by building
partnerships between the City and its residents. In addition, the City of
Kent encourages residents to work together to form geographically distinct
neighborhood councils as a means to foster commumcat1on among
residents and to enhance their sense of community.
B. The City of Kent recognizes and supports neighborhood
counc1ls by endorsmg a process to establish neighborhood boundaries,
approve neighborhood councils, and prov1de neighborhood grant matchmg
program opportunities to make improvements in defined neighborhoods.
C. The North Park neighborhood is diverse and cons1sts of
approximately 302 housmg units. The North Park neighborhood 1s roughly
bounded to the north by H1ghway 167, to the east by 1st Avenue N., to the
south by W. James Street, and to the west by sth Avenue N., as depicted in
the map attached and mcorporated as Exhibit A. On June 1, 2009, the
North Park neighborhood completed and turned m an official registration

form requestmg that the City recogmze the North Park Neighborhood
Council, allowmg 1t to take advantage of all the opportunities offered by the
City's Neighborhood Program, mclud1ng the City's grant matching program.
NOW THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KENT,
WASHINGTON, DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
RESOLUTION
SECTION 1. -Recognition of Neighborhood Council. The City
Council for the City of Kent hereby acknowledges the effort and
commitment of the North Park neighborhood and all those who participated
in forming the North Park Neighborhood Council. The Kent City Council
hereby recogn1zes North Park as an official Neighborhood Council of the
City of Kent, supports North Park community bu1ldmg efforts, and confers
on the North Park Neighborhood Council all opportunities offered by the
City's Neighborhood Program.
SECTION 2. -Severab!ltty. If any section, subsection, paragraph,
sentence, clause or phrase of this resolution is declared unconstitutional or
mvalid for any reason, such dec1s1on shall not affect the val1d1ty of the
remaming portions of this resolution.
SECTION 3. -Ratification. Any act consistent with the authority
and pnor to the effect1ve date of th1s resolution is hereby ratified and
affirmed.

SECTION 4. -Effective Date. This resolution shall take effect and
be in force 1mmed1ately upon its passage.
PASSED at a regular open public meetmg by the city council of the c1ty
of Kent, Washington, th1s 16 -t£ day of June, 2009.
