A RESOLUTION of the City Council of the
City of Kent, Washington, recognizmg the
Fieldstone Neighborhood Council.
RECITALS
A. The City of Kent has developed a Neighborhood Program to
promote and sustam an environment that responds to residents by building
partnerships between the City and 1ts residents. In addition, the City of
Kent encourages residents to work together to form geographically distinct
neighborhood counc1ls as a means to foster communication among
residents and to enhance their sense of community.
B. The City of Kent recogmzes and supports neighborhood
councils by endorsing a process to establish neighborhood boundanes,
approve neighborhood counc1ls, and provide neighborhood grant matching
program opportunities to make improvements m defmed neighborhoods.
C. The Fieldstone neighborhood is d1verse and consists of
approximately 59 housmg units. The southern boundary of the Fieldstone
neighborhood is South 240th Street, and 1t includes to the north homes
adJacent to 126th Place Southeast; 127th Court Southeast; Southeast 237th
Place; and 127th Place Southeast, as depicted in the map attached and
incorporated as Exhibit A. On January 31, 2009, the Fieldstone

neighborhood completed and turned in an official registration form
requestmg that the City recogmze the Fieldstone Neighborhood Council,
allowing 1t to take advantage of all the opportunities offered by the City's
Neighborhood Program, mcluding the City's grant match1ng program.
NOW THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KENT,
WASHINGTON, DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
RESOLUTION
SECTION 1. -Recognition of Neighborhood Council. -The City
Council for the City of Kent hereby acknowledges the effort and
commitment of the Fieldstone neighborhood and all those who part1c1pated
in formmg the Fieldstone Neighborhood Council. The Kent City Council
hereby recognizes Fieldstone as an official Neighborhood Council of the City
of Kent, supports Fieldstone community building efforts, and confers on the
Fieldstone Neighborhood Council all opportunities offered by the City's
Neighborhood Program.
SECTION 2. -SeverabilitY. If any sect1on, subsection, paragraph,
sentence, clause or phrase of th1s resolution 1s declared unconst1tut1onal or
invalid for any reason, such dec1s1on shall not affect the validity of the
remaming portions of this resolution.
SECTION 3. -Ratification. Any act cons1stent w1th the authority
and pnor to the effective date of this resolut1on is hereby rat1f1ed and
aff1rmed.

SECTION 4. -Effective Date. This resolution shall take effect and
be in force immediately upon 1ts passage.
PASSED at a regular open public meeting by the c1ty council of the City
of Kent, Washington, this I 7 day of March, 2009.
CONCURRED 1n by the Mayor of the City of Kent this 17 day of
March, 2009.
