I 7 &> 1 A RESOLUTION of the City Council of the City of Kent, Washington, recogn1z1ng the Canterbury Neighborhood Council. RECITALS A. The City of Kent has developed a Neighborhood Program to promote and sustain an environment that responds to res1dents by buildmg partnerships between the City and its residents. In addition, the City of Kent encourages residents to work together to form geographically distinct neighborhood councils as a means to foster commumcat1on among residents and to enhance their sense of commumty. B. The City of Kent recognizes and supports neighborhood councils by endorsmg a process to establish neighborhood boundanes, approve neighborhood councils, and prov1de neighborhood grant matching program opportumt1es to make Improvements 1n defined neighborhoods. C. The Canterbury neighborhood is diverse and consists of approximately 54 housmg units. The Canterbury neighborhood is roughly bounded to the north by SE 244th Street, to the east by lOl't Place SE, to the south by SE 248th Street, and to the west by 98th Avenue South, as depleted m the map attached and mcorporated as Exh1b1t A. On April 1, 2008, the Canterbury neighborhood completed and turned in an official reg1strat1on form requestmg that the City recogn1ze the Canterbury 1 Canterbury Neighborhood Councll Neighborhood Council, allowing it to take advantage of all the opportunities offered by the City's Neighborhood Program, including the City's grant matching program. NOW THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KENT, WASHINGTON, DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: RESOLUTION SECTION 1. -Recognttion of Neighborhood Council. -The City Council for the City of Kent hereby acknowledges the effort and commitment of the Canterbury neighborhood and all those who participated in forming the Canterbury Neighborhood Council. The Kent City Council hereby recognizes Canterbury as an off1c1al Neighborhood Council of the City of Kent, supports Canterbury community building efforts, and confers on the Canterbury Neighborhood Council all opportunities offered by the City's Neighborhood Program. SECTION 2. -Severability. If any sect1on, subsect1on, paragraph, sentence, clause or phrase of th1s resolution IS declared unconst1tut1onal or invalid for any reason, such decision shall not affect the val1d1ty of the remaming portions of th1s resolution. SECTION 3. -Ratification. Any act cons1stent with the authority and pnor to the effective date of this resolution IS hereby ratified and aff1rmed. SECTION 4. -Effective Date.
