A RESOLUTION of the City Council of the
City of Kent, Washington, recognizing the H1ghland
Crossmg Neighborhood Council.
RECITALS
A. The City of Kent has developed a Neighborhood Program to
promote and sustain an environment that responds to residents by building
partnerships between the City and 1ts residents. In add1t1on, the City of
Kent encourages residents to work together to form geographically d1stinct
neighborhood counc1ls as a means to foster communication among
res1dents and to enhance their sense of community.
B. The City of Kent recogmzes and supports neighborhood
councils by endorsmg a process to establish neighborhood boundaries,
approve neighborhood counc1ls, and provide neighborhood grant matching
program opportun1t1es to make Improvements in defined neighborhoods.
C. The H1gh!and Crossing neighborhood is d1verse and consists of
approximately 77 housmg units. The H1ghland Crossing neighborhood IS
roughly bounded to the north by SE 242nd, to the east by 120th Avenue SE,
to the south by SE 245th Place, and to the west by 117th Avenue SE, as
depleted in the map attached and mcorporated as Exhibit A. On March 27,
2008, the Highland Crossing neighborhood completed and turned in an

official registration form requesting that the City recognize the Highland
Crossing Neighborhood Council, allow1ng it to take advantage of all the
opportunities offered by the City's Neighborhood Program, 1ncludmg the
City's grant matchmg program.
NOW THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KENT,
WASHINGTON, DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
RESOLUTION
SECTION 1. -Recognttion of Neighborhood Council. -The City
Council for the City of Kent hereby acknowledges the effort and
comm1tment of the Highland Crossmg neighborhood and all those who
part1c1pated m forming the Highland Crossmg Neighborhood Council. The
Kent City Council hereby recognizes H1ghland Cross1ng as an off1c1al
Neighborhood Council of the City of Kent, supports Highland Cross1ng
commun1ty building efforts, and confers on the Highland Crossmg
Neighborhood Council all opportun1t1es offered by the City's Neighborhood
Program.
SECTION 2. -Severab11itv. If any section, subsection, paragraph,
sentence, clause or phrase of th1s resolution is declared unconstitutional or
Invalid for any reason, such decision shall not affect the validity of the
remaining portions of th1s resolution.
5ECTION 3. -Ratification. Any act consistent with the authonty
and prior to the effective date of this resolut1on is hereby ratified and
aff1rmed.

SECTION 4. -Effective Date. This resolution shall take effect and
be in force immediately upon 1ts passage.
PASSED at a regular open public meet1ng by the City Council of the
