A RESOLUTION of the City Council of the
City of Kent, Washmgton, recogn1zmg the Kent
West Hill Neighborhood Council.
RECITALS
A. The City of Kent has developed a Neighborhood Program to
promote and sustain an environment that responds to res1dents by building
partnerships between the City and its residents. In add1t1on, the City of
Kent encourages residents to work together to form geographically d1stmct
neighborhood councils as a means to foster communication among
residents and to enhance their sense of commumty.
B. The City of Kent recogmzes and supports neighborhood
councils by endorsmg a process to establish neighborhood boundaries,
approve neighborhood councils, and prov1de neighborhood grant match1ng
program opportunities to make Improvements m defmed neighborhoods.
C. The Kent West Hill neighborhood is d1verse, consists of
approximately 1,146 hous1ng un1ts, and is roughly bounded to the north by
SR 516, to the east by SR 516, to the south by Re1th Road, and to the west
by Interstate 5, as depleted m the map attached and mcorporated as
Exh1b1t A. On January 25, 2008, the Kent West Hill neighborhood
completed and turned 1n an official registration form requestmg that the

City recognize the Kent West Hill Neighborhood Council, allowing it to take
advantage of all the opportunities offered by the City's Neighborhood
Program, mcludmg the City's grant matchmg program.
NOW THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KENT,
WASHINGTON, DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
RESOLUTION
SECTION 1. -Recognition of Neighborhood Council. -The City
Council for the City of Kent hereby acknowledges the effort and
comm1tment of the Kent West Hill neighborhood and all those who
part1c1pated m formmg the Kent West Hill Neighborhood Council. The Kent
City Council hereby recognizes Kent West Hill as an off1c1al Neighborhood
Council of the City of Kent, supports Kent West Hill's commun1ty building
efforts, and confers on the Kent West Hill Neighborhood Council all
opportun1t1es offered by the City's Neighborhood Program.
SECTION 2. -SeverabilitY. If any section, subsection, paragraph,
sentence, clause, or phrase of th1s resolution 1s declared unconstitutional or
mval1d for any reason, such dec1s1on shall not affect the val1d1ty of the
remammg port1ons of th1s resolution.
SECTION 3. -Ratification. Any act consistent with the authority
and pnor to the effective date of th1s resolution is hereby ratified and
affirmed.

SECTION 4. -Effective Date. This resolution shall take effect and
be in force 1mmed1ately upon 1ts passage.
