RESOLUTION NO. I 717
A RESOLUTION of the City Council of the City of
Kent, Washmgton, recogniZing the Seven Oaks East
Neighborhood Counc1l.
RECITALS
A. The City of Kent has developed a Neighborhood Program to promote
and susta1n an environment that responds to res1dents by bu1ldmg partnershipS
between the City and 1ts residents. In add1t1on, the City of Kent encourages
res1dents to work together to form geographically d1stmct neighborhood counc1ls
as a means to foster commun1cat1on among res1dents and to enhance the1r sense
of commun1ty.
B. The City of Kent recogn1zes and supports neighborhood counc1ls by
endorsmg a process to establish neighborhood boundanes, approve neighborhood
councils, and prov1de neighborhood grant matchmg program opportun1t1es to make
Improvements m defmed neighborhoods.
C. The Seven Oaks East neighborhood is d1verse and cons1sts of
approximately 95 hous1ng un~ts, and IS roughly bounded to the north by SE 260th
Place; to the east by SE 261 st Court, SE 262nd Court, and 122nd Court SE; to the
south by SE Kent Kangley Road; and to the west by 120th Avenue SE, as depleted
m the map attached and Incorporated as Exh1b1t A. On November 19, 2007, the
Seven Oaks East neighborhood completed and turned m an off1c1al reg1strat1on
form requestmg that the City recogn1ze the Seven Oaks East Neighborhood
Counc1l, allow1ng 1t to take advantage of all the opportun1t1es offered by the City's
Neighborhood Program, mcludmg the City's grant match1ng program.

NOW THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KENT,
WASHINGTON, DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
RESOLUTION
SECTION 1. -Recognition of Neighborhood Council. -The City Council for
the City of Kent hereby acknowledges the effort and commitment of the Seven
Oaks East neighborhood and all those who part1c1pated m formmg the Seven Oaks
East Neighborhood Council. The Kent City Council hereby recogmzes Seven Oaks
East as an off1c1al Neighborhood Council of the City of Kent, supports Seven Oaks
East's commun1ty bu1ldmg efforts, and confers on the Seven Oaks East
Neighborhood Counc1l all opportun1t1es offered by the City's Neighborhood
Program.
SECTION 2. -Severability. If any section, subsect1on, paragraph,
sentence, clause or phrase of th1s resolution IS declared unconst1tut1onal or mval1d
for any reason, such dec1s1on shall not affect the val1d1ty of the rema1nmg port1ons
of th1s resolut1on.
SECTION 3. -Ratlf'lcatwn. Any act consistent w1th the authonty and pnor
to the effect1ve date of th1s resolution 1s hereby rat1f1ed and affirmed.
SECTION 4. -Effective Date. This resolution shall take effect and be m
force immediately upon 1ts passage.
PASSED at a regular open public meet1ng by the City Council of the City of
Kent, Washmgton, th1s /~ day of January, 2008.
