A RESOLUTION of the City Council of the City of
Kent, Wash1ngton, recogn1z1ng the Scemc H1ll
Neighborhood Council.
RECITALS
A. The City of Kent has developed a Neighborhood Program to promote
and sustain an env1ronment that responds to res1dents by bu1ld1ng partnerships
between the City and 1ts res1dents. In add1t1on, the City of Kent encourages
res1dents to work together to form geographically d1stmct neighborhood councils
as a means to foster commun1cat1on among res1dents and to enhance the1r sense
of commun1ty.
B. The City of Kent recogmzes and supports neighborhood councils by
endorsmg a process to establish neighborhood boundanes, approve neighborhood
counc1ls, and prov1de neighborhood grant matchmg program opportun1t1es to make
Improvements 1n defmed neighborhoods.
C. The Scen1c H1ll neighborhood IS d1verse, cons1sts of approximately
717 housmg un1ts, and IS roughly bounded to the north by East Sm1th Street; to
the east by M1ll Creek Park; to the south by Scen1c H1ll Elementary and Hillcrest
Cemetery; and to the west by Central Avenue South, as depleted 1n the map
attached and Incorporated as Exh1b1t A. On November 30, 2007, the Scen1c Hill
neighborhood completed and turned m an off1c1al reg1strat1on form requestmg that
the City recogn1ze the Scen1c Hill Neighborhood Counc1l, allowmg 1t to take
advantage of all the opportun1t1es offered by the City's Neighborhood Program,
mclud1ng the City's grant matchmg program.

NOW THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KENT,
WASHINGTON, DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
RESOLUTION
SECTION 1. -Recognition of Neighborhood Council. -The City Council for
the City of Kent hereby acknowledges the effort and comm1tment of the Scen1c Hill
neighborhood and all those who part1c1pated 1n formmg the Scen1c Hill
Neighborhood Council. The Kent City Council hereby recogn1zes Scen1c H1ll as an
off1c1al Neighborhood Council of the City of Kent, supports Scen1c Hill's commun1ty
bu1ldmg efforts, and confers on the Scen1c H1ll Neighborhood Council all
opportun1t1es offered by the City's Neighborhood Program.
SECTION 2. -Severabilitv. If any sect1on, subsect1on, paragraph,
sentence, clause or phrase of th1s resolution IS declared unconst1tut1onal or mval1d
for any reason, such dec1s1on shall not affect the val1d1ty of the rema1nmg port1ons
of th1s resolution.
SECTION 3. -Rat1ficat10n. Any act consistent w1th the authonty and pnor
to the effect1ve date of th1s resolut1on 1s hereby rat1fied and affirmed.
SECTION 4. -Effective Date. This resolution shall take effect and be in
force 1mmed1ately upon 1ts passage.

Kent, Washington, th1s l.£ day of January, 2008.
