A RESOLUTION of the c1ty council of the City of
Kent, Washmgton, recogn1zmg the R1verv1ew
Neighborhood Council.
RECITALS
A. The City of Kent has developed a Neighborhood Program to promote
and sustam an environment that responds to res1dents by bu1ldmg partnerships
between the City and 1ts res1dents. In add1t1on, the City of Kent encourages
res1dents to work together to form geographically d1st1nct neighborhood counc1ls
as a means to foster commun1cat1on among res1dents and to enhance the1r sense
of commun1ty.
B. The City of Kent recogn~zes and supports neighborhood counc1ls by
endorsmg a process to establish neighborhood boundanes, approve neighborhood
councils, and prov1de neighborhood grant matchmg program opportun1t1es to make
Improvements 1n defmed neighborhoods.
C. The R1verv1ew neighborhood cons1sts of approximately 732 hous1ng
un~ts and IS roughly bounded to the north by South 216th Street, to the east by
Frager Road South, to the south by South 228th Street, and to the west by 39th
Place South, as depleted 1n the map attached and Incorporated as Exh1b1t A. On
August 10, 2007, the R1verv1ew Commun1ty Assoc1at1on completed and turned m
an off1c1al reg1strat1on form requesting that the City recogn1ze the R1verv1ew
Neighborhood Council, allowmg 1t to take advantage of all the opportun1t1es offered
by the City's Neighborhood Program, mcludmg the City's grant matchmg program.

NOW THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KENT,
WASHINGTON, DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
RESOLUTION
SECTION 1. -Recognition of Neighborhood Council. -The City Council for
the City of Kent hereby acknowledges the effort and commitment of the R1verv1ew
neighborhood and all those who part1c1pated m formmg the R1verv1ew
Neighborhood Council. The Kent City Counc1l hereby recogn1zes R1verv1ew as an
off1c1al Neighborhood Council of the City of Kent, supports R1verv1ew's commun1ty
bu1ldmg efforts, and confers on the R1verv1ew Neighborhood Counc1l all
opportun1t1es offered by the City's Neighborhood Program.
SECTION 2. -Severab1l1tv. If any sect1on, subsection, paragraph,
sentence, clause or phrase of th1s resolut1on IS declared unconst1tut1onal or mval1d
for any reason, such dec1s1on shall not affect the val1d1ty of the remam1ng port1ons
of th1s resolution.
SECTION 3. -Rat1flcat1on. Any act consistent w1th the authonty and pnor
to the effective date of th1s resolution IS hereby rat1f1ed and affirmed.
SECTION 4. -Effective Date. Th1s resolution shall take effect and be m
force 1mmed1ately upon 1ts passage.

Kent, Washmgton, th1s Iff day of September, 2007.
