RESOLUTION NO. __ /7_b_5 __
A RESOLUTION of the City council of the City of
Kent, Washmgton, recogn1z1ng the Lake Mend1an
Neighborhood Council.
RECITALS
A. The City of Kent has developed a Neighborhood Program to promote
and sustam an environment that responds to res1dents by bu1ldmg partnerships
between the City and 1ts res1dents. In add1t1on, the City of Kent encourages
res1dents to work together to form geographically d1stmct neighborhood counc1ls
as a means to foster commun1cat1on among res1dents and to enhance the1r sense
of commun1ty.
B. The City of Kent recogmzes and supports neighborhood councils by
endorsmg a process to establish neighborhood boundanes, approve neighborhood
counc1ls, and prov1de neighborhood grant match1ng program opportun1t1es to make
Improvements 1n def1ned neighborhoods.
C. The Lake Mend1an neighborhood IS bounded by everything lake front
east of 132"d Avenue SE between 256th and 266th and cons1sts of approximately
350 housmg un1ts. On March 26, 2007, the Lake Mend1an neighborhood
completed and turned 1n an off1c1al reg1strat1on form requesting that the City
recogn1ze the Lake Mend1an Neighborhood Counc1l, allowmg 1t to take advantage
of all the opportumt1es offered by the City's Neighborhood Program, mclud1ng the
City's grant matchmg program.

RESOLUTION
SECTION 1. -Recognition of Netqhborhood Council. -The City Council For
the City of Kent hereby acknowledges the effort and commitment of the Lake
Mend1an neighborhood and all those who part1c1pated m formmg the Lake Mend1an
Neighborhood Council. The Kent City Council hereby recogmzes Lake Mend1an as
an off1c1al Neighborhood Council of the City of Kent, supports Lake Mend1an's
commun1ty bu1ldmg efforts, and confers on the Lake Mend1an Neighborhood
Council all opportunities offered by the City's Neighborhood Program.
SECTION 2. -Severabtltty. If any sect1on, subsect1on, paragraph,
sentence, clause or phrase of th1s resolution IS declared unconst1tut1onal or mval1d
for any reason, such dec1s1on shall not affect the val1d1ty of the remammg port1ons
of th1s resolut1on.
SECTION 3. -Ratification. Any act consistent w1th the authonty and prior
to the effect1ve date of th1s resolut1on 1s hereby rat1f1ed and affirmed.
SECTION 4. -Effective Date. Th1s resolution shall take effect and be m
force 1mmed1ately upon 1ts passage.
