RESOLUTION NO.
A RESOLUTION of the c1ty council of the c1ty of
Kent, Washmgton, recogn1z1ng the Lakes at Kent
Ne1g hborhood Council.
RECITALS
A. The City of Kent has developed a Neighborhood Program to promote
and sustam an environment that responds to res1dents by bu1ldmg partnerships
between the City and 1ts res1dents. In add1t1on, the City of Kent encourages
res1dents to work together to form geographically d1stmct neighborhood counc1ls
as a means to foster commumcat1on among res1dents and to enhance the1r sense
of commumty.
B. The City of Kent recogmzes and supports neighborhood councils by
endorsmg a process to establish neighborhood boundanes, approve neighborhood
councils, and prov1de neighborhood grant matchmg program opportun1t1es to make
Improvements 1n defmed neighborhoods.
C. The Lakes at Kent neighborhood, wh1ch 1s bounded to the north by
South 228th Street, to the east by Frager Road, to the south by James Street, and
to the west by 64th Avenue South, cons1sts of approximately 2,192 hous1ng un1ts.
On March 9, 2007, the Lakes at Kent neighborhood completed and turned 1n an
off1c1al reg1strat1on form request1ng that the City recogn1ze the Lakes at Kent
Neighborhood CounCil, allowmg 1t to take advantage of all the opportun1t1es offered
by the City's Neighborhood Program, mcludmg the City's grant matchmg program.

NOW THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KENT,
WASHINGTON, DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
RESOLUTION
SECTION 1. -Recognition of Neighborhood Council. -The City Council for
the City of Kent hereby acknowledges the effort and commitment of the Lakes at
Kent neighborhood and all those who part1c1pated 1n formmg the Lakes at Kent
Neighborhood Council The Kent City Council hereby recogn1zes the Lakes at Kent
as an off1c1al Neighborhood Council of the City of Kent, supports the Lakes at
Kent's commun1ty bu1ldmg efforts, and confers on the Lakes at Kent Neighborhood
Council all opportun1t1es offered by the City's Neighborhood Program.
SECTION 2. -Severability. If any sect1on, subsection, paragraph,
sentence, clause or phrase of th1s resolution IS declared unconst1tut1onal or mval1d
for any reason, such dec1s1on shall not affect the val1d1ty of the rema1nmg port1ons
of th1s resolution.
SECTION 3. -RatificatiOn. Any act consistent w1th the authonty and pnor
to the effective date of th1s resolution IS hereby rat1f1ed and affirmed.
SECTION 4. -Effective Date. Th1s resolution shall take effect and be m
force 1mmed1ately upon 1ts passage.
PASSED at a regular open public meeting by the city council of the c1ty of
Kent, Washmgton, th1s .5 day of June, 2007.
CONCURRED 1n by the mayor of the c1ty of Kent th1s 6 day of June,
2007.
