A RESOLUTION of the City council of the c1ty of
Kent, Washmgton 1 recogmz1ng the South Kent
Commun1ty Neighborhood Counc1l.
RECITALS
A. The City of Kent has developed a Neighborhood Program to promote
and sustain an env1ronment that responds to res1dents by bu1ld1ng partnerships
between the City and 1ts residents. In add1t1on, the City of Kent encourages
residents to work together to form geographically d1stmct neighborhood councils
as a means to foster commun1cat1on among residents and to enhance the1r sense
of commun1ty.
B. The City of Kent recogmzes and supports neighborhood counc1ls by
endorsmg a process to establish neighborhood boundanesr approve neighborhood
counCilS, and prov1de neighborhood grant matchmg program opportun1t1es to make
Improvements 1n defmed neighborhoods.
C. The South Kent Commun1ty neighborhood, wh1ch IS bounded to the
north by W1111s Street/ to the east by Central Avenue South 1 to the south by South
259th Street/ and to the west by 74th Avenue South, cons1sts of approximately 389
hous1ng un1ts. On March 21, 2007, the South Kent Commun1ty neighborhood
completed and turned m an off1c1al reg1strat1on form requestmg that the City
recogn1ze the South Kent Commumty Neighborhood Council, allowmg 1t to take
advantage of all the opportunitieS offered by the City's Neighborhood Program/
1ncludmg the City's grant matchmg program.

NOW THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KENT,
WASHINGTON, DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
RESOLUTION
SECTION 1. -Recognition of Neighborhood Counct!. -The City Counc1l for
the City of Kent hereby acknowledges the effort and commitment of the South
Kent Community neighborhood and all those who partiCipated 1n form1ng the South
Kent Commun1ty Neighborhood Council. The Kent City Council hereby recogn1zes
the South Kent Commun1ty as an off1c1al Neighborhood Council of the City of Kent,
supports the South Kent Commumty's commumty bu1ld1ng efforts, and confers on
the South Kent Commun1ty Neighborhood Council all opportun1t1es offered by the
City's Neighborhood Program.
SECTION 2. -Severabilitv. If any sect1on, subsection, paragraph,
sentence, clause or phrase of th1s resolut1on IS declared unconst1tut1onal or mval1d
for any reason, such dec1s1on shall not affect the val1d1ty of the rema1nmg portions
of th1s resolution.
SECTION 3. -RattflcatJOn. Any act cons1stent w1th the authonty and pnor
to the effective date of th1s resolution IS hereby rat1f1ed and affirmed.
SECTION 4. -Effective Date. Th1s resolution shall take effect and be m
force 1mmed1ately upon 1ts passage.
PASSED at a regular open public meetmg by the c1ty counc1l of the c1ty of
Kent, Washmgton, th1s S day of June, 2007.
