RECITALS A. The ex1stmg Med1c One/EMS Levy will exp1re at the end of the year 2007. In accordance w1th RCW 84.52.069, K1ng County 1s seekmg voter authonzat1on of a s1x-year Med1c One/Emergency Med1cal Serv1ces Levy (Med1c One/EMS Levy) of $.30 per thousand dollars of assessed valuation for the penod of 2008 through 2013. B. The Med1c One/EMS Levy supports the valuable and renowned reg1onal Medic One/EMS program. A reg1on-w1de effort to thoroughly rev1ew the future needs of the emergency med1cal serv1ces system began 1n October 2005 and Involved the full range of Med1c One/EMS Stakeholders. This analysis included the 1mpacts that a spec1f1c levy type, length, and rate m1ght have on the reg1onal system and on the taxpayers. The City of Kent Significantly partiCipated 1n these d1scuss1ons throughout the process and acted as a stakeholder on both the Techmcal Stakeholder and the Elected Off1c1al Committees. C. In October 2006, the Stakeholders developed consensus around the future fundmg and operational plans for a 2008-2013 Med1c One/EMS Levy and unanimously endorsed a s1x-year, $.30 per thousand dollars of assessed value levy proposal. NOW THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KENT, WASHINGTON, DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: 1 EMS Tax Levy Ballot Proposition SECTION 1. -Recitals Adopted as Fmdmqs. The above reCitals are found to be true and correct 1n all respects, are mcorporated by th1s reference, and are adopted as the council's fmdmgs on th1s matter. SECTION 2. -Citv Support. The City of Kent supports the proposed SIX- year, $.30 per thousand dollars of assessed value, county-w1de Med1c One/EMS Levy for the Years 2008-2013 (for Med1c One), and urges the voters to vote for the Levy. SECTION 3. -Severability. If any sect1on, subsection, paragraph, sentence, clause or phrase of th1s resolution IS declared unconst1tut1onal or 1nval1d for any reason, such dec1s1on shall not affect the val1d1ty of the rema1mng port1ons of th1s resolution. SECTION 4. -Ratification. Any act consistent w1th the authonty and pnor to the effective date of th1s resolut1on IS hereby rat1f1ed and affirmed. SECTION 5. -Effective Date. Th1s resolution shall take effect and be m force 1mmed1ately upon 1ts passage.
