City Counc1l 2006 Strategic Goals
RESOLUTION NO. J 7 / 7
A RESOLUTION of the city council of the city of
Kent, Washmgton, establishing new Strategic Goals for the
city of Kent.
RECITALS
A. On February 2"d and 3'd, 2006, the city council met with the Mayor's
Leadership Team (ML T) to begm a process to rev1se the City council's Strategic Goals.
The purpose of this goal settmg process was to rev1se the then ex1st1ng counc1l goals
to meet the current council's long-term v1s1on for the City of Kent. These goals would
act as the pnmary gUidelines for the poliCies, plans, proJects and act1ons the city
would pursue m the commg years.
B. After taking the collect1ve 1deas, comments, and discussions of all
persons involved, the MLT met on Tuesday, February 28, 2006, to beg1n the process
to set actions that would fulfill these goals.
C. On Thursday, March 2, 2006, the city council and the MLT met aga1n at
a spec1al council meetmg to review the proposed act1ons and to set the Strategic
Goals.
D. Hav1ng established the City council's new Strategic Goals that reflect
the council's long-term v1s1on for the c1ty, it IS now appropnate to memonal1ze these
goals through th1s resolution.

NOW THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNGL OF THE CITY OF KENT,
WASHINGTON, DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
RESOLUTION
SECTION 1. -Strategic Goals Established. The city council establishes the
following Strategic Goals:
A. Improve Transportation Connectedness
B. Prov1de Effective and Effic1ent City Serv1ces to the Community
C. Enhance our Sense of Community
D. Support a Dynamic and Sustainable Economy
E. Implement a Comprehensive Strategy for Commun1cat1ons and
Market1ng
F. Become a Unique Urban Center
SECTION 2. -Severability. If any section, subsection, paragraph, sentence,
clause or phrase of th1s resolution is declared unconst1tut1onal or mval1d for any
reason, such deciSIOn shall not affect the val1d1ty of the remaining portions of this
resolution.
SECTION 3. -Effectwe Date. This resolution shall take effect and be in force
immediately upon 1ts passage.
PASSED at a regular open public meeting by the City counCil of the city of Kent,
Wash1ngton, th1s 1 day of ~ 2006.
CONCURRED in by the mayor of the city of Kent this 16 day of
