HomeMy WebLinkAbout385I ' / l RESOLUTION NO._~~~ A RESOLUTION of the City of Kent, Washington, declaring the intention of the City Council to improve certain streets and avenues in the city by the construction and installation of curbs and gutters, pavement, sidewalks and drainage facilities and by doing all other work necessary in connection therewith and incidental thereto, and fixing a time and date for a hearing on this resolution. BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Kent, Washington, as follows: Section 1. That it is the intention of the City Council of the City of Kent, Washington, to order the improvement of the following described streets and avenues within the city by the construction and installation of the following described improve- ments: A. By the installation of cement concrete curbs and gutters, asphaltic concrete paving, and storm drainage On From To North Railroad Ave. Smith Street James Street George Street Central Avenue Woodford Avenue Van de Vanter Ave. Guiberson Street Seattle Street Guiberson Street Van de Vanter Ave. Kennebeck Ave. B. By the installation of cement concrete curbs and gutters, widening the existing pavement with asphaltic concrete pavement and storm drainage On 4th Avenue From West Saar Street To West Gowe Street C. By the installation of concrete sidewalk on the east side of the street On Central Avenue So. Railroad Ave. From James Street E. Willis Street To No. side of City Par E. Saar St. D. By the installation of cement concrete curbs and gutters, asphaltic concrete pavement, drainage and a concrete sidewalk on the south side of the street On From To James Street N. Central Avenue Railroad Right-of-Way E. By the installation of a concrete sidewalk on the north side of the street On Smith Street State Highway 5A From North State Street Intersection of Smith and Hazel Streets To Jq.son Avenue 94th Ave. South F. By the installation of cement concrete curbs and gutters, asphaltic concrete pavement, drainage and replacement of existing sidewalks, as required On From To Ward Street North State Avenue North Kennebeck Ave. G. By the installation of cement concrete curbs and gutters and asphalt concrete strip on the south side of the existing pavement On From To E. Meeker Street North State Avenue North Central Ave. H. By the installation of cement concrete curbs and gutters, asphaltic concrete pavement, drainage, and construction of concrete sidewalk on west side of the street, as needed On From To North State Avenue Smith Street Pioneer Street I. By the installation of cement concrete curbs and gutters, asphaltic concrete pavement, drainage and concrete side- walks on the north side On From To Pioneer Street North State Avenue North Central Ave. -2- J. By the installation of asphaltic concrete pavement and drainage On Alley between No. Central Avenue and No. State Avenue From Smith Street To Meeker Street and by doing all other work necessary in connection therewith and incidental thereto. Section 2. The estimated cost of the construction and installation of the above described improvements and the doing of all work necessary in connection therewith and incidental thereto is hereby declared to be, as near as may be, the sum of $154,853.59, and it is the intention of the City Council that approximately $136,317.87 of such cost shall be borne by assessments levied in the manner required by law upon the real properties benefited by the proposed improvements, and that approximately $18,525.72 of the cost of such improvements be borne by the City of Kent. Section 3. The city's engineers are hereby directed to submit to the Council at or prior to the date fixed for the hear- ing on this resolution a statement of the estimated cost and expense of such improvements, the portion thereof that should be borne by the property within the proposed district, and the portion thereof to be borne by the city, a statement in detail of the local improve- ment district assessments outstanding and unpaid against the property in this proposed local improvement district, and the aggregate actual valuation of the real estate including 25% of the actual valuation of the improvements in the proposed district, according to the valuation last placed upon it for the purposes of general taxation, together with a diagram or print showing thereon -3- the lots, tracts, parcels of land and other property which will be specially benefited by said improvements, and the estimated amount of the cost and expense thereof to be borne by each lot, tract, parcel of land or other property within the proposed local improvement district. Section 4. All persons who may desire to object to the formation of such district are hereby notified to appear and present such objections at a meeting of the City Council to be held at the City Hall 303 West Gowe Street at L o 1 clock [£_. m. on ;2 "~1 -{:t~ , 1957, which time and place are hereby fixed for hearing o matiers relating to said proposed improvements and all objections thereto, and for determining the method of paying for said improvements. The City Clerk and city•s engineers are hereby directed to prepare and give notice of such hearing in the manner required by law.
