HomeMy WebLinkAbout4841 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 29 30 RESOLUTION No. ~ WHEREAS, for many years various cities in the State of Washingt have permitted and/or licensed the use of punch boards, pin ball machines, and other trade stimulating devices, under what is now popularly known as a 11 tolerance policy", and WHEREAS, the existence of said policy and the permission and/or licensing of the operation of said trade stimulating devices has occurred partly by reason ambiguity in state laws and state Court decisions concerning the use of such devices, and WHEREAS, the matter is now of particular moment because of the action of the Mayor of the City of Seattle, through the Police Department of said City, to prevent 11 pay offs 11 upon the use of said devices; and WHEREAS, it is the desire of various public officials of the various cities in the S~e of Washington, particularly in the King County area, that the matter of the state law concerning such devices be clarified; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Kent, in regular meeting assembled: 1. That the City of Kent recommends to the Legislature of the State of Washington that legislation be passed in the 1963 Session to remove the ambiguit~es in the present laws and decisions of the State of Washington, and to clarify the law in this regard. 2. That this problem be given the active and early consideration of all of the Legislators during the 1963 Legislative Session BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this resolution be sent to all of the Legislators of the 30th Legislative DiSrict. PASSED by the City Council in regular meeting assembled and pproved by the Mayor
