HomeMy WebLinkAbout458- RESOLUTION NO. if§_( WHEREAS, there was filed with the City Clerk of the City of Kent, at 11:55 a.m. on the 26th day of July, 1961, a petition signed by the owners of not less than lO(b in value, according to the assessed valuation for general taxation, of certain properties therein described, notifying the City of the intention of said petitioners to seek annexation of said property; and WHEREAS, pursuant to said petitbn and to law, the City Council did on the 7th day of August, 1961, set the 21st day of August, l9bl, at the hour of 7:00 o'clock p.m., in the Council Chambers of the City Hall, in Kent, Washington, as the tir~ and place for a meeting of said petitioners with the City Council to discuss said proposal for annexation; and WHEREAS, notice thereof was given by the City to said petition rs by United States mail, postage prepaid; and WHEREAS, at said date, time and place a meeting was held, those present being the Nifor of the City, Alex Thornton, and Councilmen Shaffer, Mauritsen, Hartlaub and Bavell, representing the City, and John H. Thompson and George Shinners and R. C. Holme , the latter representing the Puget Sound National Bank, one of the petitioners; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Kent has fully con- sidered the proposal of said petitioners, now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Kent in regular meeting assembled: 1. That the annexation proposed by the initiating petition of Ormond T. Smith and others, filed with the City Clerk on the 26th day of July, 1961, at 11:5? a.m., will be accepted and that the City will not require the assumption of existing general bonded indebtedness of the City by the area proposed to be annexed. 2. Be it further resolved that the City Clerk is authorized and directed to notify said petitioners in writirg, by United States mail, postage prepaid, of the action of the Council upon their petition.
