RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING APPLICATION

A RESOLUTION authorizing applications for
funding assistance for an outdoor recreation project
to the.Interagency Committee for Outdoor Recreation as
provided by the Marine Recreation Land Act.
\VHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Kent has approved a
"Comprehensive Park and Recreation Plan" for the urban area which identifies
Russell Road Park, Phase III, located West of the central business district
near Green River as number one development priority; and
MffiREAS, under the provisions of the Marine Recreation Land Act,
state and federal funding assistance has been authorized and made available
to aid in financing the cost of land fo:r parks and t;!1e construction <;>f outdoor
recrea·tional facilities of local public bodies ; and ·
~VHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Kent considers it in
the best public interest to develop a community park in the valley floor of
the city generally near the Green River, adjacent to the City maintenance
shops and bordered on the West by Russell Road and on the North by James
Street;
NOW, TlffiREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the city
of Kent, Washington,
1. That the mayor be authorized to make formal
application to the Interagency Committee for
Outdoor Recreation for fund assistance,
2. That any fund assistance so received be used
in the development of Russell Road, Phase
III,
3. That the city's share for the project will be
from the City budget,
4. TI1at any property acquired with financial aid
through the Interagency Committee for Outdoor
Recreation be placed in use as an outdoor
recreation facility and be retained in such
use in perpetuity unless as otherwise provided
and agreed to by the City Council, the
Interagency CollUnittee :for Outdoor Recreation,
and any affected :federal agency, and
5. That this resolution become part of a fonnal
application to the Interagency Committee for
Outdoor Recreation.
ADOPTED by the City Council of the city of Kent, Washington, at
its regular meeting held May 21, 1979.
