A RESOLUTION of the City Council of the City of Kent, Washington requesting the Washington State Department of Trans- portation to conduct a regional traffic study. WHEREAS the City of Kent is experiencing severe traffic congestion problems, and WHEREAS a substantial contributing factor to the traffic congestion is developmen·t in areas outside the city limits over which the city has no control, and WHEREAS continued development without a comprehensive regional traffic circulation plan will result in still further congestion with an attendant increase in traffic accidents, injuries, deaths and property damage, and WHEREAS no such comprehensive regional traffic circu- lation plan exists for the greater Kent area, and the City of Kent has been informed that the Department of Transporation has no plans to conduct the type of regional traffic study which would be required to formulate a comprehensive regional traffic circulation plan, NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KENT, WASHINGTON, DO HEREBY RESOLVE: Section 1. That the State of Washington, Department of Transportation be and hereby is requested to implement a regional traffic study. Section 2. That as a minimum the study should in-- clude the area from Petrovitsky Road (North 180th/ S.W. 43rd) on the North, the South Auburn City limits on the South, I-5 on the West, and Maple Valley Highway on the East. Section 3. That King County and the cities of Renton, Tukwila and Auburn are encouraged to join in this request. PASSED at a regular meeting of the Kent City Council this 15th day of January, 1979.
