RESOLUTION /1742
A RESOLUTION of the City Council of the City of Kent,
Washington, to petition the Washington State Legislature
to endorse full'. funding of the METRO Transit System.
WHEREAS, the City of Kent is a member of the METRO Council,
WHEREAS,\the City of Kent supports the position taken by
the METRO Council regarding the funding of the METRO Transit System, and,
WHEREAS, the Motor Vehicle Excise Tax, by 1969 law, is the
major state funding source for transit presently available, and,
WHEREAS·~ 't\:he City of Kent believes the METRO Transit is
essential to the solution of problems of air pollution, freeway
congestion and mobility for citizens.
WHEREAS, District One of the State Highway Department
has had its capital outlay budget reduced twenty million dollars
($20.000,000) for the next biennium.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KENT,
WASHINGTON strongly recommends the members of the legislature support
full funding of the METRO Transit System.
