A Resolution of the City of Kent, Wash-
ington, making outdoor fires for the disposal
of waste materi~l within the City unlawful
unless there is no alternate method of disposal
available.
WHEREAS, the Puget Sound Air Pollution Control Agency
has prohibited all outdoor burning of waste material within the
City of Kent west of Interstate Highway 5, and
WHEREAS, regulations promulgated by the Puget Sound
Air Pollution Control Agency make it virtually impossible for
the vast majority of residents of the City east of Interstate
Highway 5 to obtain permits for outdoor burning of waste material,
now, therefore
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KENT, WASHINGTON, DO
HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. There shall be no outdoor burning of waste
material in the City of Kent unless the Fire Chief or his desig-
nated representative shall determine in the case of each appli-
cation for a fire permit that there is no alternate disposal
method available.
Section 2. In the event a fire permit shall be issued,
burning must be done in accordance with all rules and regulations
of the Kent Fire Department, Puget Sound Air Pollution Control
Agency and any other department or agency which may now or at
any future date have jurisdiction or control of outdoor burning.
PASSED at a regular meeting of the Kent City Council
this 1st day of May, 1972.
