RESOLUTION NO.
A RESOLUTION of the City Council of
the City of Kent, Washington, authorizing
application for funding assistance for an
outdoor recreation project by the Marine
Recreation Land Act and the $40,000,000
Outdoor Recreation Bond Issue of 1968.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Kent has
approved a 11 Comprehenseive Park and Recreation Plan 11 for the
urban area which identifies the Garrison Creek Multi-use Re-
servoir and Recreation area as a high priority for develop-
ment; and
WHEREAS, under the provisions of the Marine Recrea-
tion Land Act, and the $40,000,000 Outdoor Recreation Bond
Issue of 1968 State and Federal funding assistance has been
authorized and made available to aid in financing the cost
of land for parks and the construction of outdoor recreational
facilities of local public bodies; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Kent con-
siders it in the best interest to develop a community recrea-
tion area generally located near the northeast residential
area and in conjunction with a multi-purpose water reservoir
on five acres of land located on 218th and 98th Avenue S. E.
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Kent,
Washington, in a regular meeting, herewith resolves as follows:

Section 1. That the Mayor be authorized to make
formal application to the Interagency Committee for Outdoor
Recreation for fund assistance.
Section 2. That any fund assistance so received be
used in the development of the Garrison Creek Recreation Area.
Section 3. That any property acquired with financial
aid through the Interagency Committee for Outdoor Recreation be
placed in use as an outdoor recreation facility and be retained
in such use in perpetuity unless as otherwise provided and agreed
to by the City Council, the Interagency Committee for Outdoor
Recreation, and any effected federal agency, and
Section 4. That this resolution become part of a
formal application to the Interagency Committee for Outdoor
Recreation.
