CITY OF KENT, WASHINGTON
RESOLUTION NO. 1 {) ~
A RESOLUTION of the City of Kent,
Washington, requesting the King County
Auditor (Director of Records and Elec-
tions) to call a special election on
November 2, 1971.
WHEREAS, it is the intention of the City of Kent to
issue general obligation bonds to fund an indebtedness in the
amount of THREE HUNDRED THOUSAND (300,000.00) DOLLARS to finance
the enlargement and expansion of the Kent City Library, and
WHEREAS, by the issuance of said bonds the City
will incur an indebtedness in excess of three-fourths of one
percent (3/4 of 1%) of the value of the taxable property in
the City, but less than two and one-half percent (2-1/2%) of
the value of the taxable property within the City as defined in
RCW 39.36.015, and
WHEREAS, the City cannot incur said indebtedness
without the assent of three-fifths (3/5) of the voters therein
voting at a special election to be held for the purpose of de-
termining whether said indebtedness should be incurred, and
WHEREAS, the County Auditor (Director of Records
and Elections) as ex-officio supervisor of elections may call
a special election in the City of Kent upon timely receipt by
him of a Resolution of the City Council of the City of Kent
requesting such an election,
NOW, THEREFORE,

The City Council of the City of Kent, Washington do
hereby resolve that the County Auditor (Director of Records and
Elections) be requested to call a special election to be held
November 2, 1971 in the City of Kent at which the voters of the
City will be asked to decide whether the City shall incur an in-
debtedness in the amount of THREE HUNDRED THOUSAND {300,000.00)
DOLLARS for the purpose of expansion and improvement of the Kent
City Library.
PASSED at a regular meeting of the Kent City Council
this 7th day of September, 1971.
