CITY OF KENT
RESOLUTION NUMBER~
A resolution authorizing application for funding assis-
tance for an outdoor recreation project to the Interagency
Committee for Outdoor Recreation as provided by the Marine
Recreation Land Act and the $40,000,000 Outdoor Recreation
Bond Issue of 1968.
WHEREAS, the City Counci I of the city of Kent has approved
a "Comprehensive Park and Recreation Plan" for the urban area
11 which identifies the Glenn Nelson neighborhood park located on

the west hi I I of Kent in the southern portion of the city
boundary as number two development priority and
WHEREAS, under the provision of the Marine Recreation
Land Act, and the $40,000,000 Outdoor Recreation Bond Issue
of 1968 state and federal funding assistance has been author-
ized and made avai I able to aid in financing the cost of land
for parks and the construction of outdoor recreational faci 1-
ities of local public bodies; and
WHEREAS, the City Counci I of the city of Kent considers
it in the best interest to develop a neighborhood park generally
located at 268th and Mi I itary Road South;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Counci I of
the city of Kent, Washington,
I) That the mayor be authorized to make formal appl i-
cation to the Interagency Committee for Outdoor

Recreation for fund assistance,
2) That any fund assistance so received be used 1n the
development of the Glenn Nelson neighborhood park
located on the west hi I I in the city of Kent,
Washington,
3) That any property acquired with financial aid through
the Interagency Committee for Outdoor Recreation be
placed in use as an outdoor recreation faci I ity and
be retained in such use in perpetuity unless as
otherwise provided and agreed to by the City Counci I,
the Interagency Committee for Outdoor Recreation,
and any affected federal agency, and
4) That this resolution become part of a formal appli-
cation to the Interagency Committee for Outdoor
Recreation.
Adopted by the City Counci I of the city of Kent, Wash-
19 ington, at its regular meeting held March I, 1971.
