A resolution authorizing application for funding assis-
tance for an outdoor recreation project to the Interagency
Committee for Outdoor Recreation as provided by the Marine
Recreation Land Act and the $40,000,000 Outdoor Recreation
Bond Issue of 1968.
WHEREAS, the City Counci I of the city of Kent has approved
a "Comprehensive Park and Recreation Plan" for the urban area
which identifies the Russel I Road Park and Athletic Field
west of the central business district near the Green River
as number one development priority and
WHEREAS, under the provisions of the Marine Recreation
Land Act, and the $40,000,000 Outdoor Recreation Bond Issue
of 1968 state and federal funding assistance has been author-
ized and made avai I able to aid 1n financing the cost of land
for parks and the construction of outdoor recreational
faci I ities of local public bodies; and
WHEREAS, the City Counci I of the city of Kent considers
it in the best interest to develop a community park and
athletic field generally located near the Green River adjacent
to the city maintenance shops and adjacent to Russel I Road
on the west and James Street Avenue on the North;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Counci I of
the city of Kent, Washington,
I) That the mayor be authorized to make formal appl i-
cation to the Interagency Committee for Outdoor

Recreation for fund assistance,
2) That any fund assistance so received be used in the
development of the Russel I Road Park and Athletic
Field near the Green River in the city of Kent,
Washington,
3) That any property acquired with financial aid through
the Interagency Committee for Outdoor Recreation be
placed in use as an outdoor recreation faci I ity and
be retained in such use in perpetuity unless as
otherwise provided and agreed to by the City Counci I,
the Interagency Committee for Outdoor Recreation,
and any affected federal agency, and
4) That this resolution become part of a formal appl i-
cation to the Interagency Committee for Outdoor
Recreation.
