HomeMy WebLinkAbout1136RESOLUTION NO. //3b A RESOLUTION of the City Council of the City of Kent, Washington, pertaining to the Commuter Rail Demonstration Project Feasibility Plan for the Green River Valley encouraging and promoting the Municipality of Metropolitan Seattle to proceed with swiftness toward the earliest possible completion and implementation of a Commuter Rail. WHEREAS, Commuter Rail service is being studied using the existing Burlington Northern rail tracks in the City of Kent; and WHEREAS, such a project would improve traffic conditions in South King County: and WHEREAS, such a Commuter Rail project could function as the first link in an eventual regional rail transportation network; and WHEREAS, the Kent City Council is on record as supporting the Valley floor alignment as the long term multi-corridor transit route; and WHEREAS, similar rail projects in other jurisdictions have resulted in significant economic rejuvenation surrounding rail stations; NOW THEREFORE THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KENT, WASHINGTON DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The City council hereby endorses the implementation of a Commuter Rail System as described above.
