HomeMy WebLinkAbout1086RESOLUTION NO. /Dli~ A RESOLUTION of the City Council of the City of Kent, washington, relating to drinking and driving; commending the Kent Police Department, the Drinking Driver Task Force, and the Office of City Attorney for their continuing efforts to combat drinking and driving. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KENT, WASHINGTON DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Recitals. 1.1 The holiday season is a particularly appropriate time to focus on the continuing problems of the drinking driver. 1.2 On this date, the City has proclaimed the week of December 15 through December 21, 1985 as National Drunk and Drugged Driving Awareness Week. 1.3 The Kent Drinking Driver Task Force, with the aid of the State of Washington and the United States, has been in existence since May of 1983, and in 1985 received the Washington Traffic Safety Commission Award for Excellence in Traffic Safety in the area of drinking and driving. 1.4 The Kent Police Department will during the period of December 20 through January 1, 1985 again provide special DWI emphasis, in cooperation with the Washington State Patrol and the King county Sheriff's Department. Section 2. The Kent Police Department, the Drinking Driver Task Force, and the Office of City Attorney are commended for their efforts in combating the problems of drinking and driving. Section 3. The City Council urges continued vigilance on the part of the Police and other public officials in the effort to counteract drinking and driving. Section 4. The public is urged to use good judgment during the holiday season, and throughout the year, and to be concerned for the safety of everyone on the roads. 0 Passed at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Kent Washington this ~ day of ~ 1985.
