A RESOLUTION of the City Council of the
City of Kent, Washington, relating to the
Green River Basin Program, Eastside
Watershed Project, and the Soil Conservation
Service; creating a Citizen Advisory Board.
WHEREAS, the Eastside Watershed Project planned by the
Soil Conservation Service will provide flood protection in the
lower Green River Valley; and
WHEREAS, The project has changed substantially from the
original proposal in 1965; and
~lliEREAS, on October 1, 1984, the City Council expressed
its concurrence with the concept of committing the City of Kent
Sewer Lagoon Property toward the SCS project as a measure of
mitigation by the City of Kent, subject to approval of final
details and specifics thereof; and
WHEREAS, the City Council further authorized the Public
Works Department to pursue the commitment of the Sewer Lagoon to
the SCS project; and
WHEREAS, it is appropriate to receive public input and
comment concerning proposals to be brought before the City Council
concerning the SCS project; and
WHEREAS, it is further appropriate that a Citizen's
Advisory Board be created to review such proposals at the time of,
or prior to, the submission of such proposals to the City Council;
NOW THEREFORE:
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KENT, WASHINGTON DOES
RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. There is hereby created a Soil Conservation
Service Citizen Advisory Board to advise the City Council
concerning the Green River Basin Program, Eastside Watershed
Project. The Board shall initially consist of the following
members: Lauri Johnsen, Carol Stoner, Jim Leonard, Bill Pugerude,
Greg Wingard, Leonard Steiner, and Eugene Hunn: and such other
interested persons as the Council shall designate in the future.
Section 2. The Board established by this resolution
shall meet as necessary to review proposals concerning the SCS
project to be brought before the City Council.
