HomeMy WebLinkAbout977Resolution NO. 977 , A RESOLUTION approving an Uplands (Milwaukee) Playfield Master Plan; authorizing applications for funding assistance for an outdoor recreation project to the Interagency Committee for Outdoor Recreation as provided by the Marine Recreation Land Act. WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Kent, has approved a "Cpmprehensive Park and Recreation Plan" for the urban area which identifies a neighborhood park on the valley floor of the City; and; WHEREAS, under the provisions of the Marine Recreation Land Act, Chapter 43.99 RCW, state and federal funding assistance has been authorized and made available to aid in financing the cost of land for parks and the construction of outdoor recrea- tional facilities of local public bodies; and; WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Kent considers it in the best public interest to acquire a neighborhood park on the valley floor part of the City generally located south of Smith Street, north of Meeker Street and bordering on the Puget Power Interurban Trail on the West; NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KENT, WASHINGTON, l. That the Uplands (Milwaukee) Playfield Master Plan, attachment "A" hereto, is approved and adopted. 2. That the Mayor be authorized to make formal applica- tion to the Interagency Committee for Outdoor Recreation for fund assistance. 3. That any fund assistance so received be used in the acquisition or development of two and sixteen one-hundredth (2.16) acres of land on the valley floor part of the City of Kent, Washington. 4. That the City's share for the project will be derived from the donation of the property by Union Pacific Land Resources Corporation. 5. That any property acquired with financial aid through the Interagency Committee for Outdoor Recreation be placed in use as an outdoor recreation facility and be retained in such use in perpetuity unless as otherwise provided and agreed to by the City council, the Interagency Committee for Outdoor Recrea- tion, and any affected federal agency. 6. That adequate notification has been given and oppor- tunity provided for public input. 7. That this resolution become part of a formal appli- cation to the Interagency Committee for Outdoor Recreation.
