HomeMy WebLinkAbout967RESOLUTION NO. ( A RESOLUTION of the City Council of the City of Kent, washington, relating to community development and directing staff action in the event of water shortages. WHEREAS, the City Council has a legal responsibility to provide for the health, life safety, and general welfare of the community, and WHEREAS, the City Council legally must assume responsibility for the adequacies of services and take whatever steps are necessary to assure the maintenance of those levels of service, and WHEREAS, the City Council has adopted the goal for the City of Kent that all development within the City shall be predicated upon the City's ability to provide an acceptable level of services to support such development. WHEREAS, the City Council has by Resolution 952 adopted a water policy and directed the staff to develop strategies for future implementation. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KENT, WASHINGTON, DO HEREBY RESOLVE: Section 1. Whenever the staff determines that within the forthcoming year the anticipated peak demand for water exceeds the available supply, and additional supplies are not anticipated to be available within a year, or that the available supplies are anticipated to decline resulting in a supply deficiency for which a plan does not exist to resolve the deficiency, the staff shall report to the Council and suggest possible actions to extend existing supply or reduce demand.
