A RESOLUTION of the City of Kent,
Washington, allowing the limited outdoor
burning of certain waste material and re-
scinding Resolution 720.
WHEREAS by Resolution 720 adopted May 1, 1972, the
City of Kent prohibited outdoor burning of waste material in
the City of Kent unless no alternate disposal method was
available, and
WHEREAS conditions have changed since the City's a-
doption of Resolution 720, and
WHEREAS in the judgment of the Fire Chief of the
City of Kent it would now be appropriate to allow outdoor burn-
ing of natural vegetation under carefully controlled circum-
stances and on a limited basis, NOW, THEREFORE,
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KENT, WASHINGTON, DO
HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Outdoor burning of natural vegetation
(trees, shrubs, etc.) shall be allowed on each weekend (Friday,
Saturday, Sunday) in the month of April of each year commencing
with the year 1981.
Section 2, The schedule shall be as follows:
A. First weekend West Hill
B. Second weekend -Valley Floor
C. Third weekend East Hill
D. Fourth weekend -11 Hake-up 11 weekend. To ac-
comodate situations where burning was not
feasible due to inclement weather.
Section 3. During the month of May, 1980, outdoor
burning of natural vegetation (trees, shrubs, etc~) shall be
allowed on the same basis and on the same schedule as set forth
in Section 2 above.
Section 4. Permits. A permit shall be required for
each burning operation. Permits shall be issued by the Fire
Chief or his designate. All burning must be done in accord-
ance with rules and regulations of the Kent Fire Department,
Puget Sound Air Pollution Control Agency and any other depart-
ment or agency which may now or at any future date have juris-
diction or control of outdoor burning.
Section 5. Resolution 720 be and the same hereby
is rescinded.
PASSED at a regular meeting of the Kent City Council
this 7th day of April, 1980.
