A RESOLUTION of the City of
Kent, Washington, relating to the
Mayor.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Kent has several
times asked the Mayor and Administration to work with the Council
in developing a plan to resolve the budget crisis and they have
failed to do so; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor has failed to adequately represent the
City on regional issues and has failed to keep the Council informed
on important regional issues; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor has permitted and encouraged the City
Administrator to recruit candidates to run against incumbent
councilmembers, further demonstrating the Mayor's lack of
willingness to work with the Council; and
WHEREAS, due to the Mayor's lack of managerial
experience, leadership skills, and ability to effectively
communicate and work with his own staff, department heads and other
City employees, resulting in poor morale; NOW, THEREFORE,
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KENT, WASHINGTON DOES
HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. That the City Council does hereby declare its
lack of confidence in the Mayor of the City of Kent and his ability
to effectively manage the administrative affairs required of his
office.
Section 2. As a result of the lack of confidence in the
Mayor of the city of Kent, the City Council hereby respectfully
requests that he resign from his position as mayor for the City
effective immediately.
Passed at a regular meeting of the City Council of the
