A RESOLUTION of the City of Kent,
Washington, granting qualified endorsement
for the location of a regional justice center
in the City of Kent.
WHEREAS, King County has determined that there is a
need to establish a regional justice center in order to meet the
increased demand on the current judicial system; and
WHEREAS, King County called for information on
potential sites that have been identified for site selection for
a regional justice center; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Kent by
Resolution 1292 passed on August 20, 1991 granted qualified
endorsement of privately owned sites for a regional justice
center; and
WHEREAS, King County currently has four sites under
consideration for selection, two of which are in the City of
Kent; NOW, THEREFORE,
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KENT, WASHINGTON DOES
HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The City council of the City of Kent does
hereby ratify its earlier endorsement of a site selection for a
regional justice center within the City of Kent pursuant to
Resolution 1292, and further gives its qualified endorsement to
the placement of a regional justice center on one of the two
sites in the City of Kent currently under consideration by King
County.
Section 2. In providing this qualified endorsement,
the City of Kent reserves the right to enter into negotiations
with King County for any site chosen within the city limits of
the City of Kent with regard to impacts that may result from the
development of such a facility within the City. Furthermore,
this qualified endorsement is conditioned upon King County's
compliance with all aspects of the State Environmental Policy Act
in locating such a facility within the City of Kent and the
consideration of public input into such a site selection.
