A RESOLUTION of the City Council of the City of Kent, Washington, relating to electoral districts, calling for Kent to be placed in a single legisl.ati ve district. WHEREAS, the City of Kent, Washington, is currently within four Washin-gton State Legislative Districts, three King County Council Districts, and two Congressional Districts; and WHEREAS, the City of Kent is a rapidly growing and developing community with a diversity of needs; and WHEREAS, the citizens and the Mayor and City Council of the City of Kent desire to work in a unified manner for federal, state and local legislation that will be of benefit to the entire community; and WHEREAS, the ability to do so is substantially frustrated by the diversity and number of legislative, council and congressional districts that sometimes create inconsistent policy positions by the various elected officials; and WHEREAS, the Mayor and city Council of the city of Kent determine that it is in the best interest of the citizens of the City that they have uniform legislative representation at the federal, state and local level; NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KENT, WASHINGTON DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The Kent City Council urges the legislature and all involved entities and parties to consider Kent for a single, unified legislative district.
