HomeMy WebLinkAbout1245RESOLUTION NO. /u i~ A RESOLUTION of the City Council of the City of Kent, Washington, relating to Nike Manor, calling for a study of the feasibility of acquiring the property for senior housing. WHEREAS, the Federal Government has declared certain federal property on Kent's West Hill, known as Nike Manor, to be surplus; and WHEREAS, federal law requires such property to be made available for Homeless Assistance; and WHEREAS, there is also a need in Kent for housing for senior citizens, as evidenced by the approval of a bond issue for the purpose of acquiring or constructing senior housing; and WHEREAS, the City of Kent is currently exploring various avenues for senior housing; NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KENT, WASHINGTON DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The City staff is directed to submit an application to the Army Corps of Engineers prior to June 13, 1990 for the purchase of Nike Manor for the purpose of providing senior housing in addition to that authorized by the bond issue and to continue to attempt to acquire the property if the initial attempt is not successful.
