SPECIAL MEETING
Firemen's Relief & Pension Board
April 20, 2010
Board Members Present: Suzette Cooke, Al Bond, Sam Grubbs, Brenda
Jacober
Others Present: Susan Jensen of the City's Law Department, former Fire
Chief Tom Foster, and Richard Warbrouck of the Retired Firefighters of
Washington
The special meeting was called to order by Mayor Cooke at 3:03 p.m.
She explained that the purpose of the meeting is to review the advice
of counsel on a matter of potential litigation, which will be done in an
Executive Session of approximately 20 minutes. The meeting then
recessed to Executive Session.
At 3:20 p.m., Mayor Cooke announced that the Executive Session would
continue for another 30 minutes.
The meeting reconvened at 3:53 p.m.
Jacober moved that the Board find that Chief Foster did not attain the
necessary 25 years of service for a service retirement from the Kent fund
under RCW 41.18.040. Grubbs seconded and the motion carried. Mayor
Cooke stated that the decision will be put in writing.
The meeting then adjourned at 3:55 p.m.
