HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Committees - Civil Services Commission - 04/28/1975 April 28, 1973 The Civil Service Commission met on April 28, 1975. Present were Warren Bell , Hal Cline, Ken Yahn, Chief McQuery, Capt. Fronsdahl and Officer Jilbert. The minutes of the previous meeting were approved. The secretary reported that a leave of absence without pay for Edna Morales, for a period of four months, effective May 1 , 1973, had been approved by Chief McQuery and Mrs. Mauritsen. The USCSC seminar, attended by Chief McQuery and Mrs. Mauritsen, was discussed. A motion was made and seconded to send a letter to the City Administrator, requesting that funds be authorized so that the Civil Service Commission and the Police Department could participate in a national Police Selection project cosponsered by the USCSC and the Consulting Selection Center. Motion carried. The secretary reported thak ..there would be a change in the Police Lieutenant Oral Board as one of the original ' members would not be able to attend. The Board will be Capt. Buff, Deputy Chief Plancich and Chief Deveney. The commission noted that a letter of protest to the sergeant exam and a withdrawal of that letter had been received from Officer Jon Hendrickson. A letter of protest concerning the posting of the eligible candidates for the sergeant oral interviews was received from Officer William Nirk. The commission decided that since the secretary had made an error in the original posting and that it had been corrected by the commission, that this letter was no longer pertinent. A letter of protest to the sergeant exam and a withdrawal of that letter was received from Officer Ron Haysom. A motion was made and seconded to direct the secretary to write a letter to Officer Haysom asking him to clarify his statement as to any conduct in any previous testing in violation of the Rules and Regulations. Motion carried. The commission noted the receipt of a letter from Officer Jennings. A letter was received from Officers Smith. Jennings, Lutz and McCurdy. The secretary informed the commission that she found the envelope in her mail box on April 23, 1975, without a proper address, stamp or post office cancellation. She stated that it is a violation of postal regulation 131.112 to put anything, that it is possible to mail, in a private mail receptacle without it having gone through the post office. April 28, 1975 A motion was made and seconded to answer the letter of April 23, 1975. and state that the commission acted in good faith and they will stand by the examination as given. In answer to the protest to Rule X1, Section 1 and 3, this rule does not apply to anything other than completed Eligibility Lists for a position. Motion carried. A copy of the commission letter will be attached to these minutes. A motion was made and seconded to approve the Eligibility List for Sergeant as follows : Larry Hilbert Dennis Byerly James Gonzales Jon Hendrickson William Nirk Robert McCurdy Michael Jennings Motion carried, This list will be good for six months and may be extended for up to 12 months.
