The regular meeting of the Civil Service Commission for Fire Fistrict
#37 was held on Jan. 5, 1970. Present were John Fournier, Jr., Ted
Forrester, Chief Freelove and Deputy Chief Fronsdahl.
Zhe minutes of the previous meeting were approved.
Chief Freelove proposed the following changes in the Rules and Regulations:
P. 10, Rule 8, Section 1; eliminate (3) Must have served as a volunteer in
Ding County Fire Protection District No. 37 for one (1) year.
New Section 4. "Firefighter Mechanic":
(1) Must have been certified as a Firefighter lst Grade
in King County Fire Protection District No. 37.
(2) lust have required mechanical aptitude necessary to
perform necessary duties.
(3) Must perform required firefighter duties along with
mechanical duties.
(4) No additional examination will be required.
Renumber remaining sections in Rule 8.
P. 19 Section 2, shall read as follows:
"Vacations": Vacation leaves with pay shall be granted
to all permanent employees in the classified service.
Employees working the day shift shall receive vacation
at the rate of one work day for each full month of
service. Employees working the 24 hour shift shall receive
vacation at the rate of one work shift for each two
months of service. No vacation shall be granted during
the original entrance probationary period but if permanent
appointment is received, vacation time may be allowed for
these months served in probationary status. Vacations
shall not be anticipated and no unearned vacation with pay
shall be granted. Earned vacation shall not be accumulative
in excess of twelve (12) work days, or six (6) shifts,
except that upon recommendation of the appointing authority
and with the approval of the secretary and chief examiner,
earned vacation may be accumulated to a total of not more
than twentyfour (24) work days. In computing vacations,
all municipal holidays shallbe deducted. . The time at which
employees shall take their vacation shall be determined in
each case by the supervising officer with due regard for the
wishes of the employee and particular regard for the needs
of the service.
A motion was made and seconded to approve the recommendations. Motion
carried.
Joel Bowerman will be hired effective Feb. 1. The rest of the eligibility
list will not be extended. One man is retiring April Land another June 1.
An examination for firefighter will be held on Jam. 26 in order to have an
eligibility list for replacements. Meetin adjourned.
