Gowe Street Item Description 1. Call to order - The meeting was called to order at 5:33 p.m. 2. Roll Call - Excused: Nederlander, Spreitzer, Stekovic 3. Changes to the Agenda - None 4. March Minutes - Hind made a motion to approve the minutes as written. Westman seconded and the motion carried unanimously. 5. Treasurer's Report - February month end reports were distributed for review. 6. Performing Arts Committee A. 2023-2024 Spotlight Series - Staff shared an overview of the completed 23-24 season. B. 2024-2025 Booking - No changes. Still waiting to confirm one additional show. 7. Visual Arts/Acquisitions Committee A. Updates -Garrison Creek - No update -East Hill North - Selection panel to conduct artist interviews with three finalists on Wed., Apr. 17. -Traffic Signal Control Box Art Wraps - Call to Artists is open; April 26 deadline. B. Gallery -Current show: Kay Bae & Clare Johnson: April 2 - May 23 The public may submit written public comments that relate to an agenda item by emailing: cityclerk@kentwa.gov by 3:30 p.m. on the day of this commission meeting. After 3:30 p.m., written public comments may only be submitted in person by presenting them to the commission secretary at the public meeting. Written public comments that do not relate to a committee agenda item are not permitted. Written public comments are not read into the record. Unless otherwise noted, the Arts Commission meets at 5:30 p.m. the 2nd Wednesday of each month at the Centennial Building, 1st floor conference rooms, 400 W. Gowe St., Kent, WA 98032. D. 2024 Summer Art Exhibit -Selection jury - Caravaglio made a motion to approve Cathy Fields and Toka Valu as the 2024 exhibit jurors. French seconded and the motion carried unanimously. -Opening Reception: 6/5/24, 6 to 7:30 p.m. 8. General updates/other business A. Give Me Culture Application -IRC Seattle - Philpotts made a motion to approve full funding in the amount of $1,000 for IRC Seattle's Art and Wellness Group for Arabic and Dari Speakers project. Olmsted seconded and the motion carried unanimously. B. Arts Commission planning/retreat - Randy Brinson of Evolving Boards, LLC has been engaged to facilitate a retreat/work session for commissioners and staff this fall. Mr. Brinson will meet with staff and Arts Commission executive committee over the summer to plan the session. C. Kent Arts Commission booth at Cornucopia Days - Vice Chair Olmsted called for volunteers to staff a Kent Arts Commission booth at the July event. 9. Next Meeting Wed., May 8, 2024, 5:30 p.m. 10.
