Gowe Street Item Description 1. Call to order - The meeting was called to order at 5:37 p.m. 2. Roll Call - Excused: French, Philpotts, Nederlander, Maloney, McLaughlin 3. Changes to the Agenda - None 4. February Minutes - Spreitzer made a motion to approve the minutes as written. Westman seconded and the motion carried unanimously. 5. Treasurer's Report - January month end reports were distributed for review. 6. Performing Arts Committee A. 2023-2024 Spotlight Series - Live from Laurel Canyon: Sold out, Trailblazing Women of Country: 91% capacity crowd of 326. B. 2024-2025 Booking - Still working to confirm one or two more shows. 7. Visual Arts/Acquisitions Committee A. Updates -East Hill North - Jury selected 13 semi-finalists and will meet 3/14 to narrow the field to 3 or 4 finalists. B. 2024-2028 City Art Plan - Approved by City Council Committee of the Whole on 3/5; will be on the City Council meeting agenda on 3/19. C. Gallery -Current show: Student Art Exhibit, March 11 - 31. The public may submit written public comments that relate to an agenda item by emailing: cityclerk@kentwa.gov by 3:30 p.m. on the day of this commission meeting. After 3:30 p.m., written public comments may only be submitted in person by presenting them to the commission secretary at the public meeting. Written public comments that do not relate to a committee agenda item are not permitted. Written public comments are not read into the record. Unless otherwise noted, the Arts Commission meets at 5:30 p.m. the 2nd Wednesday of each month at the Centennial Building, 1st floor conference rooms, 400 W. Gowe St., Kent, WA 98032. D. 2024 Summer Art Exhibit -Applications open, deadline 3/13/24, 859 applications currently received -Opening Reception: 6/5/24, 6 to 7:30 p.m. 8. General updates/other business A. Artist Trust Programming/Collaboration - Artist Trust workshop tabled, staff to work with other South County Arts Commissions to explore interest in regular artist networking events. B. Give Me Culture Application -Kent Downtown Partnership - Olmsted made a motion to approve partial funding in the amount of $500. Kristenson seconded and the motion carried unanimously. C. Arts Commission Retreat - Staff has identified a possible facilitator. D. Information booth at Cornucopia Days - Olmsted suggested a possible Arts Commission booth and asked Commissioners to think about whether they could staff the booth. 9. Next Meeting Wed., April 10, 2024, 5:30 p.m. 10.
