Gowe Street Item Description 1. Call to order - The meeting was called to order at 5:32 p.m. 2. Roll Call - Excused: Campbell, French, Hazen, Philpotts 3. Changes to the Agenda - None 4. January Minutes - Olmsted made a motion to approve the minutes as written. Treese seconded and the motion carried unanimously. 5. Treasurer's Report - December month end reports are not yet available. 6. Performing Arts Committee A. 2023-2024 Spotlight Series Update -Past two shows SOLD OUT (Yesterday & Today, International Guitar Night) -Next show is Live from Laurel Canyon: 305 tickets sold, ushers: Sandy, Julianna, Ryan. Final show is Trailblazing Women of Country: 277 tickets sold, ushers: Sandi, Countess. B. 2024-2025 Booking - Four shows confirmed for 24-25, two offers pending, will add one or two more. 7. Visual Arts/Acquisitions Committee A. Updates -East Hill North - 54 applications (34 eligible), panel is currently in their first round of review The public may submit written public comments that relate to an agenda item by emailing: cityclerk@kentwa.gov by 3:30 p.m. on the day of this commission meeting. After 3:30 p.m., written public comments may only be submitted in person by presenting them to the commission secretary at the public meeting. Written public comments that do not relate to a committee agenda item are not permitted. Written public comments are not read into the record. Unless otherwise noted, the Arts Commission meets at 5:30 p.m. the 2nd Wednesday of each month at the Centennial Building, 1st floor conference rooms, 400 W. Gowe St., Kent, WA 98032. For TDD relay service call Washington Telecommunications Relay Service at 7-1-1. B. 2024-2028 City Art Plan -Olmsted made a motion to approve the City Art Plan. Hind seconded and the motion was carried unanimously. Will go to Council Committee of the Whole on March 5 and to City Council on March 19. C. Traffic Signal Control Box Deaccessions - Westman made a motion to deaccession Jill Erickson's "Backyard Blueberry" (Hwy. 167 and Willis St.) and Ahmed Davis' "Smile When It's Raining" (132nd Avenue and Kent-Kangley St.) Spreitzer seconded, and the motion carried unanimously. Both boxes will be included in future rounds of art wraps. D. Gallery -Current show: Cathy Fields and Kelly Loney, Jan. 4 - Feb. 28 E. 2024 Summer Art Exhibit -Applications open, deadline 3/13/24 -Opening Reception: 6/5/24, 6 to 7:30 p.m. 8. General updates/other business A. Artist Trust Programming/Collaboration -How to Apply for an Artist Grant - More research and discussion to come. B. Give Me Culture Application -In Spice Productions Inc. - Olmsted made a motion to approve full funding of $1,000. Caravaglio seconded and the motion carried unanimously. C. Doors Open update - Discussion 9. Next Meeting - Wed., March 13, 2024, 5:30 p.m. 10.
