Gowe Street Item Description 1. Call to order - The meeting was called to order at 5:35 p.m. 2. Roll Call - Excused Absences: Caravaglio, Kristensen, Ohno, Spreitzer, Westman 3. Changes to the Agenda -Item 8.13. Additional Give Me Cultural Grant applications from Ilana Zaks, Steel Magic Northwest, and Julie Seitz -Item 8.C. 2025 Community Arts Support Program 4. August Minutes - Olmsted made a motion to approve the minutes as written. French seconded and the motion carried unanimously. 5. Treasurer's Report - July month end reports were distributed for review. 6. Performing Arts Committee A. 2024-2025 Spotlight Series -Ann Hampton Callaway Sings The '70s: Fri., Sept. 20, Ushers: Countess Stekovic and Sandi Westman -Some Enchanted Evening: Sat., Oct. 5 Ushers: Sandi Westman and TBD B. 2024 Summer Concerts update - 2,950 total attendance for 2024 series. 7. Visual Arts/Acquisitions Committee A. Updates -Garrison Creek - No update The public may submit written public comments that relate to an agenda item by emailing: cityclerk@kentwa.gov by 3:30 p.m. on the day of this commission meeting. After 3:30 p.m., written public comments may only be submitted in person by presenting them to the commission secretary at the public meeting. Written public comments that do not relate to a committee agenda item are not permitted. Written public comments are not read into the record. Unless otherwise noted, the Arts Commission meets at 5:30 p.m. the 2nd Wednesday of each month at the Centennial Building, 1st floor conference rooms, 400 W. Gowe St., Kent, WA 98032. For TDD relay service call Washington Telecommunications Relay Service at 7-1-1. -Traffic Signal Control Box Art Wraps - Installation of new boxes is underway. B. Gallery - Rene Dickey and Johanna Porter through Oct. 24 8. General updates/other business A. Arts Commission planning/retreat - Sat., Nov. 2, time and location TBD B. Give Me Culture grant application(s) -Krubel Amare/Break Somethin - French made a motion to ask the applicant for an updated application once a venue and more details have been confirmed (no funding at this time.) Hind seconded and the motion was carried unanimously. -Steel Magic Northwest/Carols on Barrels - Olmsted made a motion to approve full funding in the amount of $1,000. Hind seconded and the motion carried unanimously. -Julie Seitz/Lioness Community Showcase Cultural Event - Treese made a motion to approve partial funding for marketing in the amount of $250. Olmsted seconded and the motion carried with 7 yea votes and one nay vote. -Ilana Zaks/Sound Worlds - French made a motion to approve partial funding in the amount of $500 (2025 budget for this 2025 project). Maloney seconded and the motion carried unanimously. 9. Next Meeting: October 9, 5:30 p.m., Centennial Conference Rooms N/S 10.
