This Amendment is made between the City and the above-referenced Consultant or Vendor
and amends the original Agreement and all prior Amendments. All other provisions of the original
Agreement or prior Amendments not inconsistent with this Amendment shall remain in full force
and effect. For valuable consideration and by mutual consent of the parties, Consultant or
Vendor's work is modified as follows:
1. Section I of the Agreement, entitled "Description of Work," is hereby modified to add
additional work or revise existing work as follows:
In addition to work required under the original Agreement and any prior
Amendments, the Consultant or Vendor shall:
As described in the attached exhibit A, incorporated herein, consultant shall
provide architectural engineering services to complete the design of the
repairs to the Lake Meridian Shelter. The need arose from unforeseen
conditions of roof drainage issues causing the deterioration of structural
roof members.
2. The contract amount and time for performance provisions of Section II "Time of
Completion," and Section III, "Compensation," are modified as follows:

The Consultant or Vendor accepts all requirements of this Amendment by signing below, by
its signature waives any protest or claim it may have regarding this Amendment, and
acknowledges and accepts that this Amendment constitutes full payment and final settlement of
all claims of any kind or nature arising from or connected with any work either covered or affected
by this Amendment, including, without limitation, claims related to contract time, contract
acceleration, onsite or home office overhead, or lost profits. This Amendment, unless otherwise
provided, does not relieve the Consultant or Vendor from strict compliance with the guarantee and
warranty provisions of the original Agreement.
All acts consistent with the authority of the Agreement, previous Amendments (if any), and
this Amendment, prior to the effective date of this Amendment, are hereby ratified and affirmed,
and the terms of the Agreement, previous Amendments (if any), and this Amendment shall be
deemed to have applied.
The parties whose names appear below swear under penalty of perjury that they are
authorized to enter into this Amendment, which is binding on the parties of this contract.

Subject: Lake Meridian Shelter Repairs
Proposal for Engineering Services—Amendment 1
Dear Bryan:
KPFF is pleased to provide this Scope and Fee amendment to complete the design of the repairs
to the Lake Meridian Shelter. KPFF is currently under contract for the design of the structural
repairs of the shelter. This proposal addresses the project's need for architectural services to
address an issue with the existing roofing. This need arose from unforeseen conditions of roof
drainage issues causing the deterioration of structural roof members. KPFF will serve as prime
consultant and provide structural engineering services with support from Helix Design Group for
Architectural services to perform the following scope of work.
SCOPE OF WORK
Based on our understanding of the project, we propose the following Scope of Work:
Task 1 — Project Management and Design Coordination
Task includes:
• Additional Project Coordination
• Coordination Meetings with Helix—Assumed (2) 1-hour virtual meetings
Task 2 — Design
Task includes:
• Incorporating architectural recommendations into the drawings
Task 3 —Architectural Services
Task includes:
• Assisting KPFF in creating details to replace the eave along the edge of the structure
where the edge beam is being replaced.
• Provide recommendations for an alternate eave detail to prevent debris and water from
accumulating.

Assumptions
• Architectural services will address flashing details only at this time.
• Design documents will be prepared to "permit level", with specifications as notes on the
drawings.
FEE
We propose to perform the above scope of work for an estimated maximum fee of $9,770,
approximately distributed as shown below. Our effort will be billed on a time and expense basis
in accordance with the Fee Schedule and Agreement for Professional Services dated April 25,
2024. A detailed breakdown of the fee estimate is included in the attached Fee Estimate
Spreadsheet.

Dear Mr. Howard:
Thank you for inviting us to propose our services for the referenced project. We appreciate the opportunity, and we
will be pleased to provide our architectural services.
We have prepared the following proposal for your consideration.
I. PROJECT SCOPE
The project is for the City of Kent where we are assisting in the repair of deteriorated timber members
in a shelter at Lake Meridian Park, located at 14800 SE 272nd St, Kent, WA. The current needs for the
project include:
• Assist in creating details to replace the eave along the edge of the structure where the edge
beam is being replaced.
• Provide recommendations for an alternate eave detail to prevent debris and water from
accumulating.
II. TASKS AND FEES
Helix' proposal address architectural services only. Structural engineering will be provided by KPFF
Consulting.
A. DESIGN
Tasks include:
• Review provided photos of existing wood member deterioration.
• Work with KPFF to review structural upgrades.
• Prepare details to "permit level" with specifications as notes on the drawings.
• Coordination with KPFF.
FEE: Hourly, Estimate: $2,000
B. PERMITTING
We will prepare submittal documents for permit submittal by KPFF, and respond to comments as
required.
FEE: Hourly, Estimate: $1,000
C. BIDDING
Services during bidding may include, but not necessarily be limited to the following:
• Bidding solicitation support, clarifications, and review.
• Review and respond to substitution requests and questions.

D. CONSTRUCTION
Services during construction may include, but not necessarily be limited to the following:
• Visit site at appropriate intervals to verify that construction meets the design intent, and
attend construction meetings.
• Respond to construction questions, RFI's, etc.
• Review submittals and shop drawings.
• Review and respond to change order requests.
• Prepare punch lists at substantial and final completion stages.
• Prepare as-built drawings based on contractor mark-ups.
FEE: Hourly, Estimate: $3,000
III. REIMBURSABLE EXPENSES
Reimbursable expenses - e.g., copies, prints, mileage - have not been included in our proposed
fees. Such expenses will be invoiced at cost+10%; personal auto mileage at $0.67/mile.
IV. ASSUMPTIONS
Our proposal has been prepared based on the following assumptions:
A. Helix will provide architectural services only.
B. We will address described flashing details only at this time, but can provide additional detailing as an
optional, additional service.
C. Design documents will be prepared to "permit level",with specifications as notes on the drawings.
D. Please note that proposed hourly fees are estimates only. In the event that actual expenditures
show trends indicating these estimates will be inadequate to support the requested services,we will
notify KPFF immediately and ask for fee adjustments or reductions in scope of services provided.
E. Hourly billing rates per Exhibit'1'.
V. TERMS AND CONDITIONS
A. Helix Design Group's standard terms and conditions are shown in the attached "Memorandum of
Engagement for Professional Services" (Exhibit '2') and are incorporated in this proposal.
