Ordinance Amending Chs. 3.18 and 3.29 of the Kent City Code Administration of Taxes — Adopt Finance Director Paula Painter provided an overview of the Ordinance amending Kent City Code 3.18 and 3.29. The utility tax code has its own specific filing frequency in section 3.18.030 of the Kent City Code, while the filing frequency for other taxes are controlled by the Chapter 3.29 KCC. This ordinance will repeal the utility tax code provision setting a monthly frequency, which will then subject utility taxes to the generally applicable administrative tax code that has a default quarterly filing frequency but provides the Finance Director discretion in determining the optimal tax filing frequency. This ordinance also clarifies that although tax information is generally confidential and only disclosable under specific circumstances, as provided in KCC 3.29.200, returns and tax information may be disclosed for collection purposes. Tax Manager, Andrea Madsen explained how penalties are calculated.
