Attending: Jeff Piecewicz- Chair; Pauline Thomas, Commissioner; Callius
Zaratkiewicz, Commissioner; Natalie Winecka, Secretary/Chief Examiner
Agenda:
1. Call to Order
Chair Piecewicz called the meeting to order at 5:30 PM
2. Roll Call
Chair Piecewicz as well as Commissioners Thomas and Zaratkiewicz were all
present.
3. Changes to the Agenda
There were no changes to the agenda.
4. Approval of the Minutes
Commissioner Zaratkiewicz made a motion to approve the minutes
from the May 26, 2021 Civil Service Commission meeting. Motion was
seconded by Chair Piecewicz; motion passed 3-0.
S. Consent Items to Accept
A. Letter dated May 19, 2021 from Chief Padilla to Alexandra DeMarinis
congratulating her on being hired as a Probationary Police Recruit Officer effective
July 1, 2021.
B. Letter dated June 4, 2021 from Chief Padilla to Krishan Kumar congratulating him
on being hired as a Probationary Police Recruit Officer effective July 1, 2021.
C. Email and corresponding memo dated June 8, 2021 form Ofr. Arturro Aguirre
tendering his resignation and that resignation being accepted effective June 8,
2021.
D. Email and corresponding memo dated June 8, 2021 from Corrections Ofr. Michael
Goodman tendering his resignation and that resignation being accepted effective
June 9, 2021.
E. Letter dated June 9, 2021 from Chief Padilla to Sgt. Scott Rankin congratulating
him on being promoted to the rank of Commander on or before December 31,
2021.

F. Letter dated June 9, 2021 from Chief Padilla to Genevieve Summers
congratulation her on being hired as a Probationary Records Specialist effective
June 16, 2021.
G. Memo dated June 15, 2021 from Chief Padilla notifying the Commission that
probationary Evidence Custodian Hyunjung Barnett separated service from the
city effective May 27, 2021.
H. Memo dated June 17, 2021 from Chief Examiner Winecka with eligibility list
removals through June 17, 2021.
There being no questions, Commissioner Zaratkiewicz made a motion to
accept consent items A-H. Commissioner Thomas seconded the motion;
motion passed 3-0.
6. Items to Approve
A. Continuous Testing Eligibility List for Entry Level Police Officer that was
established on May 25, 2021.
B. Continuous Testing Eligibility List for Entry Level Corrections Officer that was
established on May 26, 2021.
C. Continuous Testing Eligibility List for Experienced/Lateral Police Officer that was
established on June 7, 2021.
D. Eligibility list for the rank of Sergeant that was established on June 11, 2021.
There being no questions, Chair Piecewicz made a motion to approve items
A-D. Chair Piecewicz seconded the motion; motion passed 3-0.
7. Action Items
There were no action items for discussion.
8. For the Good of the Order
Chief Examiner Winecka updated the Commission on the status of them coming back
for in-person meetings and noted that the City Council would be voting on
amendments to the Boards and Commissions policy on July 6. Continued interest was
expressed about a hybrid option and Chief Examiner Winecka said she would look
into that as an option. Update to follow at the June meeting.
A City of Tukwila's Civil Service Commission reached out to our Commission and Chief
Examiner Winecka contacted that Tukwila Commissioner to get additional information
regarding the request. No response had been received by the time of our meeting.

Lastly, Commissioner Thomas indicated that she would have a new email address
and that she would forward that to Chief Examiner Winecka.
9. Adjournment
There being nothing further, Commissioner Thomas made a motion to adjourn.
Commissioner Zaratkiewicz seconded the motion; motion passed 3-0. Meeting was
adjourned at 5:40 PM.
