BY AND BETWEEN THE
CITY OF KENT
AND
WASHINGTON STATE COUNCIL OF COUNTY AND CITY EMPLOYEES
AFSCME, AFL-CIO, LOCAL #2617
REGARDING
USE OF POLICE DEPARTMENT FITNESS CENTER
This Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) represents a mutual agreement reached
between the City of Kent (City) and the Washington State Council of County and City
Employees, AFSCME, AFL-CIO, Local #2617 (Union).
The parties agree that upon the execution of this Memorandum of Understanding

workday for physical exercise in the City-provided exercise facility at the Police
Department, under the following conditions:
1. Exercise time will not be allowed during the last three hours of an
employee's shift if the employee has daily paperwork to complete, or if
the employee has other tasks that need to be completed prior to the end
of their shift.
2. Exercise time will not be allowed without prior advance management
approval. This includes both the time sought by the employee to exercise
and the duration of the employee's requested exercise time.

parties agree the Chief may end this program at any time, and in such an
event, any time spent exercising will no longer be compensable or
otherwise permitted.

By signing below, the parties agree that the above represents the parties' full and entire
agreement with respect to the subject matter of this MOU. This MOU shall not be
