The meeting was called to order at 3:01 p.m.

3. Public Comment
There was no public comment.
4. Approval of May 20, 2020 Minutes
Commissioner Robinson MOVED to approve the Minutes. Commissioner Bellisario
SECONDED the motion. Motion Passed 5 - 0.
S. Public Hearing — CDBG -CV Round 3
Senior CDBG Planner, Dinah Wilson, presented the Community Development Block
Grant CV Round 3 award recommendations.
The Public Hearing was opened at 3:26pm.
Ginger Kwan, Open Doors for Multicultural Services: We did not apply. There needs
to be a way for BIPOC organizations to apply. The timeline needs to be longer.
There needs to be more time to prepare.
*Editorial Note: Agencies that applied for and received funds from CDBG CV
Round 1 were not required to reapply for CV Round 3. Open Doors was funded in
both rounds.
The Public Hearing was closed at 3:47pm.

Commissioner Bellisario MOVED to approve the Community Development Block
Grant CV3 award recommendations. Commissioner Robinson SECONDED.
S. Opening Doors to Partnership and Engagement
Human Services Commissioners introduced themselves and shared details about their
role as a commissioner and why they volunteer their time to participate. Human
Services Manager, Merina Hanson, presented a summary of the role and work of
Human Services in the community. Senior CDBG Planner, Dinah Wilson shared a brief
history of the work both the Human Services division and the Human Services
Commission have been engaged in to advance equity over the years.
Several organizations introduced themselves and described their programs for Kent
residents.
During the conversation some general themes emerged:
• Providers want to know more about how to engage with Commissioners,
share program services and work together.
• Meetings with Commissioners could provide opportunities to learn about
community (health boards as example)
• Organizations serve across cities/communities, how can we work better
together?
• How can we support the develop of staff of nonprofits?

Commissioner Stolpp adjourned the meeting at 4:08 pm.
