Arts Commission Minutes
Commissioners: Chair Suzanne Smith, Vice Chair Dan Cox, Treasurer Gerard Philpotts,

Item Description
1. Call to order - Chair Smith called the meeting to order at 5:31 p.m.
2. Roll Call - Excused: DuBois, Philpotts; Attending virtually: O'Brien, Fincher
3. Changes to the Agenda - None
4. July Minutes - Cox made a motion to approve the minutes as written. Caravaglio
seconded and the motion carried unanimously.
5. Treasurer's Report - Distributed for review.
6. Performing Arts Committee
A. Spotlight Series 2021-2022 - Tickets for the 2021-2022 season are on sale.
B. Summer Concert Series 2021 - Attendance of 5,000+ total with one show to go.
7. Visual Arts/Acquisitions Committee
A. Public Art Updates:
-Downtown mural project - Dedication planned for Fri., Sept. 24 at 3 p.m.
-Traffic Signal Control Box project - Installation set for the week of Sept. 7.
-Chestnut Ridge Renovation - Artist interview posted online; seeking
community input.
B. Gallery
-Stephanie Johnson/Sara Brogdon: July/August
C. Kent Creates - Updated security certificate to be obtained ASAP through a new
company.
8. General updates/other business
A. New Boards and Commissions Ordinance - Discussion
B. Commissioner vacancy - Robert Howell to be appointed to fill the commissioner
vacancy. Recruitment will begin for the alternate position.
