MISSION: Provide leadership in establishing cultural opportunities and arts
education. Improve the quality of life and enhance the aesthetic
environment. Promote Kent as a center for great arts.

Sharona Chandra seconded and the motion carried unanimously.

-Final Report - Very successful season, excellent weather,
attendance up (7,600 total), donations and sponsorships on track.
2. 2015-2016 Spotlight Series No
-Opening performance: The Kingston Trio, Oct. 2 - 275 tickets sold.
-Other shows also selling well.
3. 2016-2017 Booking - October meeting after full Commission No
Next Meeting: Tuesday, October 13, directly following full Commission
meeting, Centennial 401, as part of full Commission meeting
B. Visual Arts/Acquisitions Committee Action Item

-September/October show: Siege and Jesse Proebstel
-Opens September 14
-Reception in conjunction with Third Thursday Art Walk

2. Public Art - collection maintenance No
-On-going
3. 2015-2019 City Art Plan No
-Meeker Street Underpass project - discussion, staff will try
to get clarification on what DOT will allow.
-Kent Arts DIY update/approve vendor Yes
-The interview panel selected Empirical UX out of Portland
Oregon.
-Dan Cox made a motion to approve the panel's
recommendation and contract with Empirical. Linda Mackintosh
seconded and the motion carried unanimously.
-Susan Machler and Dan Cox will serve as representatives to the
on-going implementation committee as needed.

full Commission meeting

• Kent Downtown Third Thursday Art Walk - 9/17, 4:00-7:00 p.m.
• Everyone is invited to Susan Machler's birthday bash on Saturday,
September 12 at her law offices (2125 5t" Avenue, Seattle). The party
starts at 6 p.m. and the music will begin at 7 p.m. (Don't forget, she's
singing!!)
